Sorry but not even close. Did you see who some of the Elite 11 competitors were? Did you follow their performances?

So you think that on a "National" level Quincy Patterson, Blake Stenstrom, Re-al Mitchell, Carter Bradley, James Foster, Cammon Cooper, and Devin Leary have more recruiting clout than Phil J? Or any number of substantially better QB prospects that didn't attend the Elite 11? C'mon, that is crazy talk. I'd bet you don't even know who a lot of those guys are. Because I didn't, and a lot of people don't, that's the point.

just to play advocate here, it doesnt really matter if us fans know these kids right? its if their peers know them.

I could see where Phil being at the elite 11 and performing well would have given us a boost with skill players in attendance, but we wont ever know.

But I don think if dublinirish knows those guys matters or not if they help in recruiting.

Maybe someday he will be good enough to receive a full size BOOM from ole Crusader

Italics noted.

Nothing against him. He has very good film at a young age, he has great production and I totally trust the staff's feelings on him.

There's a few guys who I really liked that are more in the mold of Wimbush and Jurkovec.

In general, you are taking a really small part of the conversation to "play the devils advocate". In fact, that has nothing to do with why I initially started posting.

The point is, just being at the Elite 11 doesn't automatically give you or takeaway your leverage, as there are several guys there that have ZERO "national" clout.

To what you posted, I follow national recruiting fairly closely and I had no idea who Re-al Mitchell and Carter Bradley were. They are the 690 and 694th ranked prospects, overall, nationally. Hopefully they turn out to be studs, but to say that they garner more national notoriety, than Phil J, because they were at the Elite 11 is quite silly.

and I am not disagreeing, I couldn't tell you who they were either. But IMO, the more our QB commit is around elite skill players in these camp settings and performing well the better.

Would Austin already be committed if Phil and him got to ball out together in Oregon? We dont know but I am sure it would have helped.

I will however be shocked if we have some top 5 class in 2019 and everyone says its because we landed Cade in July 2017, but boy would it be badass.

Cade McNamara has the quarterback traits coveted by Notre Dame coaching staff

Sounds like in additon to his talent, new Notre Dame QB commit Cade McNamara has the right frame of mind to be successful under center in South Bend.

Steve Wiltfong - 19 hours ago

New Notre Dame quarterback Cade McNamara’s intangibles made him as attractive to the Irish staff as his tangibles.

All his traits were on display in the Nevada state playoffs last fall.

None more so than in the 4A North Title game where the 6-foot-1, 186-pound McNamara helped rally his Damonte Ranch team from a 31-7 halftime deficit to a 49-45 victory over defending five-time Region champion Reed.

McNamara’s four-yard touchdown run late in the fourth was ultimately the game-winner capping the first Region championship in his school’s history. The future Irish signal-caller who announced his commitment to ND on Monday accounted for five scores (three passing and two rushing) in the second half that night.

...

Everything came together in the second half rally with McNamara and company scoring 21 points in the first six minutes of the third quarter to cut the deficit to three. In that game alone McNamara showcased his arm talent, ability to extend plays, his feel for everything around him and just the stones to perform under the bright lights with a lot of adversity facing him and his team.

(Game video at the link above.)

"He can make all the throws,” Dupris said. “He’s making throws now I wasn’t making as a freshman in college."

If you watch his game video, you'll see him hitting more receivers in stride that recent ND QBs ... and he's doing it at what 16 years old. Jimmy Clausen was 20 years old when he started his first game at ND. This kid is 4 years younger and he's got 2 more years in HS to grow and develop.

Yes, I know it a "highlight" clip. A couple of days ago there was conversation here about Dayne Crist highlight/memorable passes. Two pass plays were recalled, two. Somebody posted you mean the one to Shark. No the other guy replied, the other guy. They both posted a clip of the ... two plays. Kizer could hit a receiver in stride and then throw the next 3 passes into the ground or overthrow the next receiver by 10 -20 yards. Oftimes open receivers had to wait on the ball.

I plugged McNamara's stats into the NCAA QB Efficiency formula, he gets a 173 rating. Nice.

He completed 58% of his passes up from 54% as a freshman. He threw 100 more passes in '16 than '15 but his INTs only went from 10 to 11. Nice ratio. And he averages 16.4 yds/pass not dink and dunk stuff.

Nice pickup.

I would agree with Lucky. We're talking about thousands of recruits across the country who probably aren't spending a large amount of time each day on what other recruits are doing. A small percentage have heard or know who someone is and an even smaller percentage actually know them. Many of these kids that make the finals are type A alpha players. I suspect they don't get influenced by others nearly as much as we might think. IMO their influenced way more by the recruiter or HC than other recruits.

247 has Cade at the #7 QB-Pro / 3* / 88 rating on its updated R&R's.

The truth is that makes him the #4 pro style QB since

Rattler
Bachmeier
Duggan

are the definition of dual threat QB's and should be on that list.

When you combine the dual threat QB's with the pro styles, he's #14 overall.

His #'s are top 5 though. Thee's numerous guys who threw for 500 yards as sophomores.

Now that he's committed to an elite P5, someone needs to tell him he can relax on the Saturday Night Fever - I look 6-2 doo.

He's only a junior, and he has good bone structure... maybe he will end up growing a little?

I've examined his growth plates and...

Did you really just invoke the bone structure clause?

Haha! I said maybe...

And it might freak you out to learn this, but you can make out a person's bone structure without a medical examination! It's how guys like Taylor Decker and Mike McGlinchy get scholarship offers when they are 80 pounds under their playing weights! It's why people were a little skeptical about Ovie and McGrone, but not Lamb...

Kid is fun to watch thats for sure. He looks to be tough as well, hangs in the pocket knowing when hes going to get lit up.. Makes the throw, and delivers.
