Who saw this coming lol
I thought it was Junior and on top of the earlier one I was like WTH we got here a dang first rounder. If I saw just that play, I’d think he was a guy that did that all the time.
Once it was 41-0 they really clamped OSU down. There's no way 2 Oregon defensive players were better than Shuler.
I’ve always been of the mindset that if you can do it once, you can do it again. Maybe he just needed to see himself do it again. Confidence is a hell of a drug.Wishful thinking on my part but it would be amazing if this performance lit a fire under him and he finally looks like the player we thought he was gonna be in this final stretch when we need it the most.
Bumping this post from Canada, post niu. Spot on.It's at minimum a 12 game season. Lots of football to be played. Lots of time for any player, transfer or not, to make their impact. Y'all want to grouch and moan, you can, but it's time to turn the page to Purdue. It's a new game, a new day for a player like Oben to improve his play.
In hindsight that was the best post @CanadalovesND has ever made.Bumping this post from Canada, post niu. Spot on.
While we can all agree he didn't have the JJB pt. II season we were hoping for, that single play was worth whatever they paid him.

IIRC, he put on weight intentionally to get bigger & it slowed him down.Wonder if he got hurt at some point?
That would actually make sense why he looked his best in the post season due to losing weight throughout the regular season. I also think it took him a decent amount of time to pickup Golden’s defense, to much time to pick it up imo.IIRC, he put on weight intentionally to get bigger & it slowed him down.
This is why I’m against staff putting on weight for DE some of your best pass rushers are 220-230 lb linebackers you don’t gotta be 280-290IIRC, he put on weight intentionally to get bigger & it slowed him down.
DEs come in varying body styles. Your rush ends are generally leaner and quicker and your strong side ends are generally a bit bigger so that they can support in the run game and set the edge against an OT.IIRC, he put on weight intentionally to get bigger & it slowed him down.
I think it depends on how the guy's body can naturally adapt to the added weight. Riley Mills added 20-30 lbs between 2022 and 2023 and his game took off. His body was probably better to play at 300 than 280. Traore, Burnham, and Tuihalamaka are other examples of guys gaining weight and developing into better players.DEs come in varying body styles. Now maybe Oben was slight and wanted to put on some weight to be an every down DE in the NFL…but I feel like generally our staff has been super unsuccessful in trying to have guys add weight to play a different position or in a different style than their body type actually allows.
Because he wasn’t able to tackle the QB behind the line of scrimmage more than he did.Anyone have any clue why he didn’t get more sacks this year? Just curious?
The strip sack against Georgia made whatever his nil acquisition worth it, but damn, he was downright bad at the start of the season. That would actually make sense why he looked his best in the post season due to losing weight throughout the regular season. I also think it took him a decent amount of time to pickup Golden’s defense, to much time to pick it up imo.
