Many believe Leonard has first round potential, so his potential is very high with a single year remaining. It's based off pro-potential and not impact this coming year. Freshman and sophomore transfers will grade out higher in 247's eyes than grad transfers 100 times out of 100 because of this. For example, Beaux Collins vs Merriweather. We know this year that Beaux Collins will probably start and probably get somewhere between 500-750 yards receiving which makes him very good for ND but probably a late round draft pick or UFA. Merriweather has 2 years to put it together and because of his potential has the higher ranking. It's a flawed methodology but that's the rationale. Further with Leonard vs Moore. If you're looking at 2024, Leonard is clearly the guy you want, but through 2025 or 2026, Moore's potential is way higher.
What is Dante Moore's ceiling for the following 3 years? Higher than first round? Again, it's not just flawed, it's bad.
Holden Staes, while a very good player, should not be rated above Leonard, no matter how many years he has remaining. Very strange system. They need more than a single number. They need a value related to current play and then perhaps something that represents upside and years remaining. Right now, their system just looks ridiculous.
