Something that I always continually need to remind myself of is, when players return, we expect them to get better, like Patterson is right now. So, if Patterson and only one other guys returns, we are likely better at two spots. With Lugg, I think the drop off, if there was any, would be minimal. He'll have an entire offseason of reps as the #1 somewhere. Then you have a bunch of highly recruited guys that will have been in the program for multiple years for 2 spots.

Yeah if the line looks something like

BANKS - NEW - PATTERSON - NEW - LUGG

Then that's still pretty good, and maybe even Gibbons slots in at LG or RG. Then you basically take your pick of Quin Carroll, Carmody, Zeke Correll, Kristofic, Blake Fisher as true freshman.

I think Baker is a tackle, so he wouldn't be in competition for that, though maybe he's on the Ronnie Stanley plan and will play RT then switch to LT.

Would we slide Kristofiic to RT then? And Correll to RG with Lugg at LG?

No idea if they'd put Kristofic at RT. He def had the feet of a tackle in HS, but maybe he'd just be better inside. Lugg is apparently practicing RT and RG so I imagine he stays on the right, so no LG for him.

For all we know, Quinn might move Patterson to Guard and let Zeke Correll play at Center. Does Zeke have the size to play elsewhere?

Lugg could well play one of the Crusher Monster Guards. He was thought to be in a dogfight with Banks for a guard slot this season. We could run out a left side of Banks/Lugg/Patterson. Who can say without seeing the mix on the field, but that seems rather good to be --- and VERY POWERFUL. I'm thinking that what we really need to hope for is a RT who is as precocious at it as Hainsey was. He just stepped right in.

I'm dreaming that Quinn Carroll is exactly that, both as a Minnesotan and due to the praise I've heard of him so far.

He's the one that I got my eye on as well. BGI has said on numerous occasions that they've heard he was really ascending prior to injury. And then bounced back to that level post injury. Staff has been very happy with him.

so whats the word on quinn carroll? lot of promise when he signed but haven't heard anything since his knee injury. also last year I read somewhere that Zeke Correll was giving the 1st team defense fits as the prep team center.

at this point with the continuity we got at the position, I think it's best to just hope he provides quality depth and gets solid reps to be ready to go next season.

LOL, the talent level between the two isn't close at all. I'm sorry but I think you're letting fandom get in the way of analysis. You're talking about a 5* recruit, college AllAmerican, and NFL starter (for Bill Parcells) vs. a guy who was none of those things. Pedigree + talent = RB1 every day and twice on Sat and Sun.

It's just not close between the two. At all. I can't write that enough.

Maybe do DWalker and Lee Becton. Becton was my guy, but I had accept that he wasn't as good as I thought either.

LOL, maybe you need to let the fandom go? I don't care a bit more or less for either RB tbh, I'm just telling you the truth. Maybe other coaches play it different, but BK has shown time...and time...again he will start the most complete back. Jones was a super talented runner, yes, but he didn't have the receiving hands or blocking IQ that Walker had. Walker would have been BK's starting back. I've given you plenty of examples of less talented runners that started over more gifted guys because they were better all around backs. I'm not trying to say anything more than that, I'm simply pointing out that's how BK runs things.

Also, you keep mentioning Bill Parcells. His regime in Dallas was hardly anything to speak of. He lasted four seasons there and his best finish was a loss as a wildcard team. Not exactly legendary teams in his final years, his Dallas years were a far cry from his Giants days and they cost him his career. Jones' career there wasn't exactly electric either, he had a couple alright seasons and then got moved down the chart.

As OMM mentioned, I think we're gonna have a left side of Banks, Lugg and Patterson.

The right side is going to be a bit uncertain, but there are a ton of great options. You have Carroll, Gibbons, Dirksen, Baker, Kristofic and don't forget the Mayor, even Spindler at the guard spot. Freshman but they're elite and very physically developed.

I'm not ready to make the determination yet. I'll have to see what decisions are made. It'll be interesting to see how many from this group do indeed turn pro. If all 4 go, I could see a fairly significant drop off but for some reason I don't think that happens.

I just checked some of the big boards.

Liam is a 2nd to 3rd round projection in most.
Kramer is hit or miss, but when he is included, it's 4th to 6th.
It's funny, but saw Hoge (BYU) projected before Kramer in one mock.

The rest are not projected.

Hainsey and Banks I'm sure would be picked up as UDFAs, but IMHO they'd be better off taking advantage of a master's program and having one more year of fun in college.

I am seeing the same and finding it a bit strange.
I thought both Liam and Kraemer would be getting first and second round buzz.

Kramer has looked really rough at times. Very inconsistent IMO. Liam has been mostly 2nd round, which I think is fair. I'm a little surprised Hainsey isn't getting late round mentions.

Jones wasn't one-dimensional nor was Walker talented enough to make up for the difference. Every coach earning a paycheck starts Jones. Every coach earning a paycheck started Jones.

Love this dude! On field he plays with a golden Tate “the U” attitude. He looks for contact on every play, then KW let’s them know about it.

Thanks for posting, that was awesome. But only a 3-star recruit. Seriously, in this short season so far, I've loved watching Kyren. Great vision, enough speed, and a badass when his helmet flies off 3-4 times a game. lol

Not to get nit-picky but he was a 247 Composite 4 star, he was right on that border.

He has been an absolute treat to watch this year. His development is unbelievable. He is the most well-rounded back I can recall since maybe Darius Walker, but he has a higher ceiling IMO, little more speed to break the big one which was always the one thing Walker didn't have in his game.

He found another gear against Clemson on that opening drive that I didn't realize he had. Maybe it was adrenaline...who knows, but it was great to see him pull away and house it.

Those aren't Heisman numbers in this era IMO.

Heisman is about HYPE man, get with it! This is also a shortened season so numbers will be less. WE ARE ND - our Heisman hopefuls are defenders and O linemen. His numbers are plenty when you adjust for the world class pass blocking - total ND RB Heisman candidate. Best offensive player on best team = Heisman, it's like a rule or something.

Seriously though - WTF with that ISU kid I have never heard of who is leading rusher nationally?

Looking at that list, UNC has two guys in the top 10. Had no idea they were that good of a running team.

At times, though probably drunk, I almost forget that Kyren in the open field isn't Tate. #23!
