Yeah agreed.

If we are so solid at RB with Kyren and Tyree as clear top 2 with Jafar and C'Bo second tier... then why move these guys to RB. Makes no sense to me. I feel like it's too late to switch Jafar to another position.

He has this year and 2 more years to turn himself back into a wide receiver. Which his body may be more up for.

I listened to the instant analysis by Prister and O’Malley. They both said Jafar and Jahmir have been injured for most of Fall Camp. Which is why Kyren has been excelling and it’s why we had the two emergency switches.

With Ekwonu, it's because they think he could have real, situational value as a "power" back and LB is probably the deepest position on the team. They also think he can get reps there without stunting development. With KAR, it was because he was recruited as a flex prospect and there are a lot of bodies ahead of him at WR (plus the young guys are all showing good flashes).

It also goes without saying that with COVID depth is a major concern, even just for practice situations. ISo if you have two RBs banged up (Armstrong/Smith... no idea if that's true or what their status is); and only three healthy bodies at the position (Williams/Tyree/Flemister) then you absolutely need to be getting a couple guys reps there or you're tempting fate.

That's NOT a surprise! Geesh, the guy just can't stay healthy.

I'm all for adding a real hammer to the RB group, and also dream of a situationally ready FB lead blocker who just might receive the ball by a hand-off or catch a pass.

He reminds me of a quicker Folston, which is a very good thing.
Patient, shifty as all heck, and very elusive.

Yep, that’s who I thought of watching him today. He’s going to be a yardage monster for us.

Stud. Amazing balance, good vision and quickness. Most complete player we've had at RB in awhile.

I'm extremely happy for what he did. 100+ rushing, and 200+ AP is awesome. Still not sure he's going to be good between the tackles though. There were zero holes today, so didn't really get the chance to grade him on that though. If he can do that (requires our OL to step up), it will be a really nice year.

I think teams will try to mimic some of what Duke did, so we'll see.

Yep, we need Austin to get healthy and be as advertised. I think we have the talent to get over the hump but Pitt is going to do the same. We need to be able to make them pay.

Like I said in that other reply, we need the faster WRs. And the OL needs to come to play. If we can't run between the tackles, it'll be a long season. And someone needs to kick Book in the nuts pre-game to piss him off and make him come to play too.

Duke did dial up a lot of different stuff though. Just glad we were able to find success on the edge.

Yeah, I think those no gain runs between the tackles were not on Williams. Duke had everything inside covered, I'd have to watch again to see if it was more scheme or just our guys not making blocks. It did seem like they had extra guys in the box playing the rum.

Nice adjustment by ND going to a mostly outside runnnig game to exploit their scheme.

It was both IMO. Bad moments by all interior OL. Several times the DL just easily shed them like they were nothing. Dungy called it early in terms of needing to hit the edge and use misdirection. Make's KW's day all the more impressive.

We possibly lose that game without Kyren. Really stepped up in a big way as a playmaker for us. Need some receivers to do the same.

Came into this season with low expectations for the backfield but a Kyren/Tyree combo with Jafar sprinkled in looks to be one of the better groups we've had during Kelly's tenure.

i haven seen shadows of Zeke Elliott. Not only have the same frame (even skin color), he runs the same way as Zeke. Looked elite out there, only thing he lacks is long speed.

I was thinking the same, but he doesn’t have Elliott’s long speed, Kyren might be a little shiftier though.

So I’ve been thinking and I think The best comparison for Kyren is Carnell Cadillac Williams. Though Cadillac had the best vision I had ever seen from a RB, Kyren is not on his level with vision though.

I don't think I've been this excited about the RB position in a long time. Like Lax said he is a complete back. If our OL can block like they did in 2017, Williams is going to have a huge year. 15 TD's.

By the way, his back up, Chris Tyree.

what makes you think that our OL can block like its 2017?

I do, however, see a little of Procise in Kyren Williams.

I am not a big fan of the spin moves normally but he knew exactly when he needed to do it. I don’t Think he over used it either. He was a stud yesterday.

I know you're being facetious, but tbh I don't want running backs who have any reason to be here after 3 years. If someone wants to pull a Etienne that's great, but we shouldn't be recruiting 4 year talent at RB.

You are correct and I agree with what you are saying for the most part. But a guy like Jahmir Smith who will probably be around for 4 or 5 years I’m totally fine. He is a complimentary back as a banger and short yardage guy.

This is Quinn's third year? The OL should be used to his coaching, 5 returning starters, all OL are NFL potential. They should be disciplined enough to want to be the best OL in the country.

This should fill him with confidence and give the OLmen additional motivation.
