Personally, I think we give this kid too much attention.

His highlight tape doesn't really do anything (I thought his 7 on 7 film was good, though) for me and his offer list is below average. He's rightfully ranked a 3-star IMO. I'm not going to fuss over his recruitment, if we get him, cool. If not, I'd be over it in about 2 seconds. BK said he's not worried about the 2014 ILB team. Wake me up if Drue can ever make up his mind. If I were the staff, I'd be tempted to yank his offer because the ND offer >>>>> any of his offers and either he's really indecisive or loving the attention. That may sound harsh, but seriously, how much ****ing time do you need to compare Purdue to Notre Dame?

This was before he committed. Which I would have because I didn't see it other than in his 7 on 7. Clearly I was wrong and he was a hit.

Once he was committed I wouldn't have pulled his offer. That's a totally different scenario.

Anything to this?

I'd take a Turner for Kiser swap. I feel like people say that they wouldn't now, but then once we watch the playoffs we'll immediately see 100 posts of "we just don't have the athletes".

Well, it's time to get some dudes proactively IMO.

Give me your rationale to claim Turner is more Athletic than Kiser?

I think he'll be a better football player. He's bigger, has flexibility, plays better competition, is rated higher, has much better schools after him.

That's enough for me to make that trade.

Flexibility????????

Bigger??????

The only thing you said that’s correct is he plays better competition.

McKinley played better competition than Claypool by a factor of 10. Who is currently leading ND is snaps played by a wr?

Fact: He has flexibility to play WDE or LB. Kiser is considered for LB only.
Fact: He is bigger.

Claypool vs. McKinley has nothing to do with this conversation. For a number of obvious reasons. But primarily because I was much higher on Claypool than I am Kiser.

Don't you have anything better to do today, Hillary?

He's got a long way to go to DE... like 40lbs...

He does have better hair though.

6’3” 200 is bigger than 6’2 210. Good to know.

You never say Claypool play, once. I saw him play and he was a freak.....BUT....Kiser is a far far better Football player by a country mile.

I seriously question if Kiser is 6'2". Even so, you're catering to his highest listed height. He's listed at 6'1" elsewhere.

Asa Turner is literally not listed shorter than 6'4" by any site.

You're proving in real time to be the poster boy for "moving goal posts", lol.

Every player in the 2019 class has been visited since SC except Kiser.

They also visited Asa Turner.

And this is how rumors start.

That's a pretty big spoon you have there sir. I hope you're happy with waking Koon up from his nap and getting him going today.

Okawara is at least 240 and is the lightest end we have.

Last I was aware he was 230. Hopefully he is 240. Still, when you're 6'4" and already above 200 LBs in HS, getting to 240 isn't a stretch.

Damn fellas. I was just pointing out a fact.

With Marist aboard, I don't even get the Asa interest to begin with. Same dude. Kiser is a completely unique prospect. WAY faster adn a next level athlete, literally a decathlete level specimen compared to the rest of ND's LB room. He could play offense too. Could be a monster Ultraback in the right system, or simply a RB at the P5 level like Ryan Nall was at OrSt. As far as height, Beau coached against him and said he's all of 6-3. Little doubt in my mind he could play Stud, Rover, Buck... who knows? Mike? His family's got some big boys when they get older.

and I still have no comment on what's going on with Turner, so I've moved on until I see otherwise and ESP is 2 weeks from tomorrow.

Just checked. He's 241 on UND. I also recall BK (either BK or Elko) saying they want him at 250.

I'm not saying Turner can't get to 240, but it will take 2-3 years. It's probably more realistic to get him to 225 or 230ish and keep him at LB until he shows he can put on the right kind of weight. He's playing WR and SS now, so DE (college DE) is a decent size expectation jump. He looked like a bean pole next to BK in one of the pics his last visit.

I'd love it he could grow into a monster DE and keep his athleticism. But that's a project. NaNa is the same height and already is at 230+, so not even sure the coaches would consider Asa as a WDE project.

Ovie is the DE project. He is moving to DE. Needs to add 20 lbs.

This season ND came in with 15-12-15 as the scholarship count for their DL-LB-DB groups. In a perfect world, ND is shooting for 16-12-16. Obviously there are scholarship limitations and you probably won’t have exactly 16-12-16 because you need offensive scholarships but you get the idea. For 2019, ND has signed 16-14-17. I think one of those 14 linebackers is moving to the DL to balance out the numbers. People will leave for sure but I think if the staff takes any more players on defense it should be at DLine or at Linebacker with the intention of moving a guy or two up to DLine next season which might already be the intention. Those guys are 10 months ahead of everything we talk about anyway so I’m sure they’ve already figured out where an Ovie Oghuofo best projects and what a Jack Lamb would do best at a certain position. The only thing I can hope for is to keep getting 4 stars and overrecruiting the positions to have sufficient depth when the attrition occurs in the offseason.

If we were to start rescinding offers in this class, I don’t think Kiser would make the coaching staff’s Top (or Bottom) 3. There is a lot of evidence showing that the staff is less than thrilled with the state of our LB room:

1. Lea has shown a strong penchant to rotate in players, even bad players. Despite that fact, Coney and Tranquill almost never left the field.

2. When Lea thought Coney was leaving after last season, he said he felt like he was staring at a “hole” in the middle of our defense. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Jon Jones or the backups.

3. When Drue went down with an injury, our replacement was Drew White—a guy many thought was destined for retirement due to medical reasons this summer.

4. Despite extremely tight numbers, the staff decided to offer likely LB prospect Marist Liafau while still pursuing another LB prospect in Asa Turner.

In short, LB is going to be dangerously inexperienced and unproven next year. It looks like the staff plans to throw as many athletic bodies at the problem and hope that one sticks. Kiser fits that mold.

Wasn’t White the guy specifically for Navy though? I’d imagine the lineup may have been different given a different opponent..... Maybe I’m recalling incorrectly

That's what BK said and the following week, against NW, it was JGH who played #2 Buck snaps.
