It's on sale right now and prices will increase after your first year. Pretty typical for sub sites.

Right. I got a half-off deal and got a year for $30. I'm sure it will increase when I renew next summer, but that's not bad at all. The journalism is excellent.

Had a typical JK day in their opener, a 44-0 win vs Lewis-Cass.

168 yds on 18 carries, 4 total TD's + 2 Int's on D.

If Pioneer goes to the state championship game and JK avg 191 yds rushing and 4 TD's, he'll become the leading rusher and scorer in Indiana HS history. Problem is, he probably won't get enough snaps to get there with all of the blowouts.

It seams to be clear Pioneer will run through 1A football. I wish they would play up a time or two, but they don't...literally the worst schedule I've ever seen. He is just swallowing the competition, it is not even fair.

How far is Pioneer from Ft Wayne? Why don't they play a better schedule, please?

They played Lewis Cass 2A and will play Knox who's 3A. Their toughest game will be @ North Judson. They have a good team.

It would be interesting to see how Pioneer would do against Logansport but the Berries are probably 4x-6x times bigger. Even little W Lafayette with Karlaftis is 3x the size of Pioneer.

I'll predict they play Indy Lutheran in the state title game.

Logansport has, traditionally, not been a very strong or good program. Played them my Sophomore and Jr yrs in HS, and we beat them badly both years in the state playoffs. I'd wager money that Pioneer would beat them this season.

I think we'll get a Pioneer - North Central (Farmersburg) matchup on Thanksgiving weekend for the 1A title. The T-Birds possibly have the best backfield in the class with Basinger and Thompson...outside of Pioneer, of course.

Funny thing is...

The Berries' HC is the guy who built Pioneer's program. He's been there two years and took a 1-9 team to 2-8 then 5-5 last year. This year they're 2-0 and have outscored their opponents 110-0.

Pioneer does have a couple of secret weapons. Ezra and Addai Lewellen. They are 10th grade twins. Both are very athletic, I believe they both long jumped 21' if I remember correctly. I'm going to guess they are African adoptees. I look forward to hearing about their journey in the future.

Pioneer scrimmaged Logansport twice over summer. The match-up would not be close, Pioneer would crush the Berries. For a small school their skilled people are very good.

That pic is from last season, the twins are bigger and faster.
Both actually went almost 23' as freshmen in long jump.

I haven't paid much attention to Kiser over the past 6 weeks or so.

His team has outscored their opp's 702 - 25. In 11 games, they have 9 shut outs and the average score of a game this year is 64 - 2.

Oddly enough, Maxpreps has Pioneer ranked behind fellow unbeaten 1A Adams Central who plays another unbeaten, Southwood tonight.

Pioneer plays former 1A bully, Lafayette Central Catholic tonight but the best players (like the Karlaftis') aren't going to LCC now a days, they are staying at WL & Jeff who are a combined 20-1 this year in 3A & 6A. WL beat 6A Jeff thisseason.

Kiser's HC is a friend of mine, great guy. I've seen them once this year, and with their schedule (which is loaded with putrid 1A/2A competition...one decent 3A school) they're just shellacking folks, as they should.

Southwood and Adams Central both play much tougher competition in northeastern Indiana. I'd agree with MaxPreps assessment. If anyone in the north has the potential to take Pioneer down, it's probably the AC Flyin' Jets.

In the State Finals, I look for Pioneer's Wing-T to be up against the Wishbone/Flexbone attack from the North Central (fabulous) Thunderbirds. I'll be front row for that one, as I was an assistant on the NC staff for a few years during my undergrad at Indiana State.

1A Football in Indiana has been pretty good this year, although with the success factor the south race is definitely watered down, sans Linton, who was bumped upto 2A for this cycle.

If a 3A can step up and play a 6A in your example...then why can't Pioneer do the same? Scecina 2A plays Roncalli 5A every year. I just don't understand how outscoring opponents 702 - 25 is any fun when you could play better competition.

A lot of times in 1A and 2A...that 1 GREAT/D1 player can make a huge difference. That might be the case here but Pioneer has been a pretty consistent program over the years.

Nobody is touching them this year. Kiser carried 17 times for 221 yds and 5 tds in the first half vs Lafayette CC Friday
70-7 with a running clock second half.
Some perspective Karlaftis West Lafayette team led CC 21-0 at half and beat CC 34-0

Looks like the real 1A state championship is gonna be on Nov. 16 when Pioneer most likely plays Adams Central. There's a couple of 1 loss teams on the other side of the bracket but they aren't the juggernauts Pioneer and AC are.

ac= Amish college and lets not call the little school from southern Adams county juggernauts. It only feeds their inferiority complex. Bellmont graduate here.

I'd like to say my team will see Pioneer again in semi-state but it's going to be tough going against AC this week as we are decimated by injuries.

We seemed to just have awful luck against AC in the past too. At least this week we'll be at home.

Good luck Beau. Saw you guys played South Adams during the regular season but not AC. Tell me, are there a lot of 1A schools in Eastern Indiana? Seems like you'd have played AC if they are 45-60 minutes away.

And what's up with Adams county??? AC and SA are just 5-10 minutes apart and have two separate, small HS's??? That's silly to have two sub 400 student HS's that close together. Of course NEIIrish and his Belmont Braves would be receiving even worse spankings if the two consolidated. There's no reason the whole county doesn't just have 1 HS. It's probably no more than 15 minutes from anywhere in the entire county to Monroe in the center.

Lastly for NEIIrish: Why is Belmont HS not named Decatur HS?

Don't remind me of the South Adams game. hah

If I had to guess as far as why we don't play them in the regular season it would be because of pre-existing schedules of the two teams. They tend to play a lot of bigger schools that are in or around their county. With our program being so young, we have had some odd match ups before...we used to play Edinburgh which was a heck of a bus ride.

And there are more 1A schools than you might think; it's just a matter of whether or not they have a football program.

It was built on land that was named Bellmont park. It was the consolidation of three different area high schools. Unlike the mouth breathers and amish to the south, northern adams consolidated all of their schools. Starting next year elementary through high school will all be at the same location. Another fun fact about me, I played middle school basketball at a small lutheran school with Seth Colclasure who i believe was a runner up for Indiana Mr BBALL at Bellmont. He later played for Valpo.

I played for and graduated from Maconaquah. Just saying the name "Seth Colclasure" makes me shiver. We had some great bouts with your Braves back in the early 2000s when the Sectional was up there.

Plus Wapahani, who, now that Scottsburg has added football, holds the title of largest school in the state not to field a football team. It seems like East-Central IN and Southwestern IN are two of the largest areas in the state for IA schools sans basketball. I went to Indiana State and there are dozens of teams down in that area that are basketball-only--with Barr Reeve, Loogootee, and Forest Park being among the most prominent. Linton routinely gets transfers from Shakamak, WRV, and Bloomfield from kids that are interested in pursuing football, as does Jasper/Southridge (from NE Dubois). It's like a whole other world in these pockets of the state where, outside of a local 3A/4A school, football doesn't exist.

A fellow Crusader, I like it. I saw him play a few times, the one that comes to mind is when we played ND at the United Center during Scott Drew's only year as HC. Lost by a bucket and ND said, enough is enough... no more. Haven't played since.

Next year marks the 30th anniversary of us beating ND the first time. Where does the time go?
