Duggan is what you mean when you say Pyne just doesn’t make winning plays. Never gonna appear on the stat sheet for him or Book but you just watch the game and know it when you see it.

TCU just got straight whipped at the goal line there.

Gonna cost them the game.

Not sure why they didn’t use Dugan more close to the goal.

A TCU td would’ve put their team total and the game total over. Thanks Sonny.

Imo those last two play calls cost Max a real chance at the Heisman and Dykes shouldn’t win coach of the year after that. They went 12-0 like we did in 2012 but worse. They were lucky to get to 12-0 and their kick ran out. They will get drilled by Michigan.

I thought Mertz was the second target at QB?

I gotta admit, it would've been pretty nice to have a QB who finished 2nd for the Heisman at ND this past season.

Seems unlikely but any chance he'd want to win a Heisman and national championship with his favorite school growing up in his last year?

Looking back that was a year we should have been taking 2 QBs including Duggan.

Someone just linked that one again. Crazy to think we could have had him if McNamara hadn't committed, we shut down recruiting, and then McNamara took off. Kinda got screwed by that whole exchange.
Jurkovec '18, McNamara decommit '19, Pyne '20, McCarthy skip for Buchner '21... all adds up

Another one of Rees’ tremendous evaluations

When he got around to it, he got the eval right, he offered him.

Tommy always seems to have a nice hand dealt to him, he's just really bad at knowing what order to play his cards.

Unfortunately, that last part is critical to the evaluation process. A future Heisman finalist that grew up an Irish fan. Tommy missed a layup

Yeah there’s an article basically saying ND offered 2.5 months after Penn State and by then it was too late
There’s a huge difference between:

Offered too late to be truly considered

And

Had we offered 2.5 months earlier he would’ve been Irish.

That's what's most tragic about all of this... How many guys who wanted to play QB at ND either ignored or slow played / mismanaged by ND and lost out?

It could be worse... Boob Davies coulda had Carson Palmer, Philip Rivers & Jay Cutler in the same room. Jim McMahon and Doug Flutie wanted to be the next two QB's after Montana... Bob Griese wanted to be the starting QB on ND's 1964 National Champions that fell 3 points short at SC and the '66 NC's where he woulda been the SR QB in place of Terry Hanratty

They had their guy in McCarthy until he screwed us, and by then it was too late on Duggan as he moved on.

Pretty sure someone said at one point Duggan and fam didn’t really like their visit/implied didn’t like Kelly

Also a ton of the posters here would have been throwing a fit if Duggan was still at ND after his first three years starting.

Tommy missed a layup is a brutal take.
