Solid film. It will be interesting where we go with LB recruiting going forward.

Not to be overly cynical but we've seen this movie before and the final scene usually involves a USC hat (or, if the kid is smart enough, a Stanford hat).
Then comes the sequel. Playing him for four years.

Great FREE article by Sinclair:

Spencer Lytle has booked his highly-anticipated unofficial visit to Notre Dame.

The Trinity League standout outside linebacker has had his eye on the Irish throughout his high school career. After earning an offer on March 1, he put plans in motion to take a trip to South Bend and settled on April 4.

Lytle will play his senior season at powerhouse St. John Bosco after transferring from Servite where he played under former Notre Dame (and NFL) tight end Oscar McBride, who has served a few roles in the football program.

The Irish certainly have ties to Servite, pulling wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, tight end Troy Niklas, and even quarterback Steve Beuerlein from the Anaheim prep school.

Along with McBride, Notre Dame alumni Rick Mirer is a friend of the Lytle family, having coached youth football with Lytle’s father.

All in all, Notre Dame has been on Lytle’s radar for years.

“I am confident I will love Notre Dame,” Lytle said. “I am really looking forward to the visit. Spending time with the coaches and seeing the campus and facilities will be great. Hopefully, (I’ll get) a chance to see the business school and maybe talk to a professor or two.”

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound junior also excels in the classroom, holding offers from Dartmouth, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Yale, along with his wide-ranging offers.

Additionally, he holds several Pac-12 offers in Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah and others, as well as national offers in Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Illinois, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, TCU, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, and others.

In 2017, he posted 77 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, nine hurries, and one forced fumble.

“(Lytle has a) super high football-IQ, is a total coach’s player, willing to do whatever it takes and is compelled to be the best,” McBride said. “(He’s) hyper-competitive and a phenomenal student. Notre Dame would be very lucky to land this kid.”

Along with Notre Dame, Clemson, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Texas A&M are in the visit discussion for Lytle. Last weekend, Lytle visited Cal.

As far as fitting the Notre Dame profile, Spencer Lytle certainly hits all the marks.

Except he isn't a 4/5 star so maybe expectations shouldn't be as high for this movie.

True. USC hasn't offered him yet. But Clemson and A&M have, so wouldn't be surprised if he climbs the rankings.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say SC won't be a factor. I hear ND is in great shape and the two to worry about most are Stanford and UDub, who haven't offered... yet. Brother is in Boulder. There's some connection to UDub here, not sure. Stanford is Stanford for a kid with the entire Ivy League having offered and a 3.9 at Servite.

After's last year's LB haul, not sure I see how Ekwonu, Maguire and Lytle fitting like Loy thinks except if they think Maguire is a for sure Rover and Hamilton will stay at Safety. As much as I'll cringe for typing this, I'm leaning towards skipping Maguire and roll with Ekwonu / Lytle / Hamilton at LB's and grab another fast twitch DE to go with NaNa.

Of course a 4.8 / 40 by Lytle could have Maguire or maybe Fulton in the group instead.

I would take Maguire over little as of now, however we will see how he does in some camps going forward.

The Minnesota analyst dropped his Gopher CB and went Foggy.

That leaves two CB's for UCLA - one being from Wiltfong last Sept, the other being last month from the eDuck guy.

Next two stops for Lytle this week are Illinois and Clemson.

Horns247 analyst EJ Holland put in a CB for ND yesterday.

The only other CB is from Wiltfong to UCLA last September. Lytle was in Austin last month for a visit so Holland has spoken to him at length and should be a good judge of where Lytle's at regarding his recruitment. 247's interest board says it's a ND - Wiscy battle.

Wish Holland would put a CB in for nana. Also does little have a Stanford offer?
