Spencer Lytle is bracing for what very well could be the most pivotal part of his recruiting process.
The three-star outside linebacker from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco is hitting the road in a couple weeks for a pair of important spring trips and told 247Sports a few other stops are also likely.
"I have official visits coming up with Wisconsin on June 8 and Notre Dame on June 15, and those are the only two I've scheduled so far," Lytle said. "I'm also planning to get out to Clemson, probably in between those two."
The Badgers were represented at St. John Bosco's spring showcase Wednesday by assistants Bobby April (outside linebackers) and Jim Leonhard (defensive coordinator), and the 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect said he has established a great relationship with both.
"It was great having both of them come out here to see us," Lytle said. "They are both really experienced, having played in college and the league. I've been there once before and, when I get out there again, it's going to be a big weekend, officials wise. There will be some commits up there with us so it's going to be fun to experience everything with a few guys going through the same process.
"From what I know, they tell me I'm the top guy on their board and they have told me I'm a big priority."
The Fighting Irish, who are expected to swing through Southern California to see Lytle practice early next week, are also making Lytle feel like a key piece to their 2019 recruiting class.
"Notre Dame is a prestigious program and they've put out a lot of quality linebackers to the league in the past," Lytle said. "I've talked to some guys about Notre Dame and they've told me it's a great place to play. I'm talking mostly with coach Brian Polian and coach Clark Lea there and they're great guys and great coaches, so I can't wait to get back to see everything again."
As for Clemson, coach Brent Venables was in attendance on Wednesday and the Tigers have landed on the itinerary as well.
"I've been talking with Clemson quite a bit lately, so I'm probably going to get back there again for an unofficial some time in June," Lytle said. "I can't wait to get back there.
"Right now I've been in contact with a few other schools and coaches so we'll see what happens. I might end up taking all five officials or I might only take three on top of some unofficials before thinking about a decision."
Lytle is the nation's No. 485 overall prospect, No. 32 among outside linebackers and No. 59 in the state of California for the 2019 class, per the 247Sports Composite.
