If that LOI was indeed for ND, I wonder what happened at the last minute to make him hesitate?

If I'm guessing, he called Jimmy Lake and said he was flipping. Lake was able to convince him to hold off. Asa maybe did it out of courtesy to Lake, or he still was really conflicted.

The fact that his high school made that earlier tweet to "stay tuned" only hours after Asa said he wasn't ready to sign, makes me think that Asa did have his mind made up and was doing this out of courtesy to Lake.

Just one theory.

Yet here we are wringing hands over a 3-4* recruit and making fun of their fanbase. I'm just kinda 'meh' on the kid. Won't make or break anything for ND and giving Udub a way bigger stage than they deserve.

Staff can call and text during dead periods now. Used to be radio silence. Now it’s just zero face to face contact of any kind during the dead period. Unfortunately that means he’ll be getting Brian Kelly, Clark Lea, Brian Polian and probably more ND staffers giving him calls and texts all day and all night until that letter comes in. On top of that, Chris Petersen, Jimmy Lake, and Peter Kwiatkowski are probably blowing him up too. Gonna be an absolute battle until he’s worn down and decides he needs to send a letter to someone to stop this stuff. It’s sad but around signing day, it gets incredibly aggressive, overbearing, and downright exhausting to be recruited. That’s why a lot of these kids get the process out of the way earlier if they can.

Lol. I've listened to his interviews, he is not someone seeking attention. That's the worst part about this whole ordeal. Now he has some mindless woman passive-aggressively attacking him about his commitment and a Coach taking cheap shots at other programs and it's all at his expense.

It puts the spotlight directly on him and it was unnecessary. If he wants to join the Irish, I'll be really happy because it's another player with a high ceiling who could realize his potential at ND.

If he wants to join UDub, I'll still root for him. I can't root for his team but I'll root for him because he seems like a good person trying to make the best decision.
