Those are much better then what Crus has posted. I was under the assumption he only had 4 tackles total for the year with no sacks. That’s certainly not what these stats say.

Crus said he was averaging 4 tackles a game. Read his post again.

2017
10 games
75 tackles
14.5 sacks

2018
6 games
26 tackles
2.0 sacks

He’s not exactly having an awesome year this year. Especially when you look at what he did last season. He’s probably being doubled a bunch but still his stats are paltry compared to last season.

I dunno, would think with his offer list he should be getting 2 sacks a games not over 6 game period

Ian he getting double teamed? Are the offenses running to the other side of the line? Are they throwing quick strike throws like slants and screens to negate him? I think Mike Easton has done a good enough job of recruiting and developing talent to trust him in taking this commitment.

That’s one game. Other posters said the same thing about eichenberg looking like crap but now big time schools have offered. And while crus seems to follow recruiting more than all of us combined I’d still trust the staff on this. Maybe the kids playing through injury? Lots of unknowns.

I trust the staff, I think they're getting the hang of this recruiting thing

Agree...........As much as we look at clips and read everything, we really don't know half of what a professional coach does. They see players in a totally different light.

Wasn't really talking about one game....was referring to the posted 2018 stats..

2018
6 games
26 tackles
2.0 sacks

You Really can't explain that away.

If you are loaded at DE and Brice was a legacy, and Scholarships weren't tight, absolutely. But that isn't the case. Not saying stay is completely wrong, but performance speaks louder than potential.

Is he playing injured? Are his coaches doing a good job with there scheme for him and the defense? How are opposing teams schemeing him?
If you look at Daelin Hayes stats, they’re certainly lacking but most agree he’s doing his job well. There seems to be a lot of unknowns in this situation that should stop us from declaring him a pass. The staff seems to know what they are doing these days and if they think he’s a good fit, then I’m all for it.

While I like to "trust" the coaches, I also think it's a position of need, and Trice is probably just the "best available" or "most likely" to be Irish...

Who else is really available? Honest Q. He's a project type player IMO. This is not trusting the coaches in terms of him being a stud or not, but more trusting them to pick the best available in terms of numbers management.

On Friday night, October 2nd, 2009, I watched "live" Marcus Lattimore fumble 3 times at St Thomas. I came away thinking --despite his rushing and receiving yards that night--this young man may be overrated. I was terribly wrong in my evaluation. Marcus was actually underrated and had a great career at South Carolina. Scouting is not easy.

If he fumbled the ball all season long then you would have been right, but it was one game. We are talking about half a season here

If Lattimore had 350 yds rushing and 2 yds after 6 games as a senior, he high school team might have cut him. Just saying

Very fair point from you and the other gentleman above you. I do think that the DL role is even harder to evaluate from a stat perspective primarily than the RB role-- especially in h.s. I am impressed by ND Crusader's opinions. He brought the player to our attention early in the recruiting cycle yet after watching him recently has his concerns compared to the possibility of Foskey or others. There is an art and a science here--and lots of luck --both good and bad..player development...The RB has to have big numbers in h.s. I am not so sure if we have to say the same about a DL. Yet again I am persuaded by a good source here on the board and your replies about the lack of production

Sorry I've been busy and unable to comment further on this.

Trice has the physical upside to be a good player for ND in the future. If I had to pick from him or Kofi Wardlow, I'd pick Trice. I don't question his physical skill ser.

I do question his production this year and the performance that I saw in person. Motor is so important. That being said, if the staff thinks that his fire will be lit when they get a hold of him, then we should all feel confident that he'll be an asset at some point.

Is there any chance he has some lingering injury that is slowing him down? If the coaches know something like that is happening they might not be as concerned about a lack of production this year.

I have a lot of confidence in Elston to get the most out of his players. There is certainly talent on this DL, but it's not just talent that is showing up on Saturdays. There is a distinct sense of pride in their work and I think that comes from Elston. Our best DL's have been when he was coaching them. Trice has a lot of tools to work with and I think Elston could get the most out of them.

There is time to develop. As much as we all love highly contributing freshmen and sophomores,it does not seem so long ago that to be a solid 2 or even 1 yr starter at programs such as Notre Dame demonstrated that you were an excellent football player and had a collegiate career to be proud of. Many ND football players have continued to improve into their NFL yrs as well.

Here's to hoping he's Irish today and it is the start to what I'm hoping will be a good day for Notre Dame fans.
