If ND lands Trice, Howard Cross needs to move inside. Do you think Hunter Spears can play 3 DL positions? I only ask because of the injury to Franklin.

I think Cross needs to move inside regardless. IMO his best position is without a doubt DT-3T. Spears is intriguing as I'm not sure what his best position is on the DL as I think he's got the tools to be great at all of them except WDE. However, that said I think with what I think about Cross and Lacey being a 3T as well his future is at NT/NG or SDE.

So what positions do you think Lacey, Spears, and Cross can play? IMO, they are below:

Lacey - Pure Nose
Spears - SDE, 3 tech, possibly nose in a pinch
Cross - SDE, 3 tech

Seem about right?

Mark me down in the... Hope Foskey commits and/or Offer Tosh Baker categories.

Trice had 4 tkl's, 0 for loss.

Got one good hit on Rattler where he beat Baker but Rattler stood and delivered a strike to the pylon where an O'Conner DB committed pass interference to save a TD.

Besides that he had just 2 plays where he got a lil pressure but the LT forced him too deep and Rattler stepped up and easily avoided him.

Pinnacle ran at him 13 times. He had 2 tkls in those attempts and most times he was swallowed up by the LT and couldn't get off the block.

Most troubling, he has a bad motor in pursuit which is a big no no for a DROP. The ONE time he gave 100% in pursuit he actually caught Rattler before he got out of bounds... and committed a horse collar that gave Pinnacle a first down in the red zone. I do believe he has the physical ability because he was close to the play a lot but an Okwara type DE could have made an additional 6-7 plays.

He showed just two rush moves with no counters. Chop the hands and go around the outside or drop the shoulder on the inside in a bull rush trying to hit the gap (never worked). Starting outside and w/ a swim inside would have been the ticket because Rattler was stepping up into the pocket to pass or to take off through a hole (he had over 100 yds on scrambles, 0 designed runs).

So what I took away from this game is:

If you like Trice, offer this guy yesterday because he was an iron curtain last night:

Is this a good thing?

With so few spots left, is Brice the guy that ND really Needs/wants?

Closing out the D class with Rutherford and Trice would be a great finish. I wouldn't mind them kicking the tires on little Eich as well.

Finish the class with all defenders.

He’s been their main target for awhile now. Obviously they’d be very excited about this addition.

If he's announcing Saturday, he must be wanted unless he's one of those that's announcing without approval from the staff. At 6'9" he'll have one heck of a wing span to throw over.

That’s Baker that is 6’9, Trice is in the range of 6’3-4

After watching his film I really like his get off, length, bend and motor. Pretty much everything you would want in a rush end. Would be a great addition to this DL imo.

I’d love to see the last 4-5 spots go all defense or maybe a BPA like Vimahi or Johnson at WR. Defense is more important to add some numbers and talent. Nice thing is the staff has 3-5 spots maximum and several months to fill them so they can go hard after the top guys and then focus on 2020

Oregon analyst, Matt Prehm also CB'd him to ND this evening along with a few others.

ND now leads 8-0 over the field.

Just looked at his stats for this season so far and it doesn't really stick out as great, what am I missing?

IDK what his stats are, but from his film, he reminds me of Julian Okwara with his burst/athleticism. Not sure he has as long of arms, and not sure he's as flexible, but the body type and quickness are similar IMO.
