plus Tenn is just a terrible team and will never be in the top 3 of the sec

Lol wut?

You mean the team that is, historically, the 2nd best team in its conference? The same team that has the 2nd best winning percentage in its conference? The team that has the 12th most wins in the nation, ever?

Granted, the last 10 years of Kiffen, Dooley, and Jones, have been rough, but they have been, historically, a Top-10 national program.

And this is coming from somebody that hates them.

Peyton is waiting to pounce

I have friends (from TN, not Indy) that know/knew the Mannings. Several years back, Peyton did in fact say UT HC was a place he could definitely see himself in his later years. My cousin was also part of his security detail for several years in Indy. He would never divulge conversations, but did say he thinks PM will return to UT in some capacity some day. Both those tidbits were at least 10 years ago, but I would not be shocked a bit if it happened. I would however prefer him in political office. The soundbites and tweets would be incredible.

Not to mention that UT has a natty some 10 years younger than ND.... hot trash now, could be plain hot with the right coach.

The school my wife teaches at is playing Knox Catholic at home this Friday. I'll be there. Might have to sport some ND gear and make my way to the visitors section. I'll report back.

So I just found out that this kids head coach used to be the QB coach at my high school. He's a big ND fan, we used to talk Irish every Monday in the locker room. He's not going to pressure a kid to go anywhere or anything, but he would certainly have good things to say about ND to anyone who asked.

Was he there when Harrison Smith was at Knox Catholic?

It looks like Cade may be catching heat from Vol fans.

parents/family whoever really making this kid suffer just to engineer a coaching change, it's kind of unfair on him

You are basing that on what? Very little information has come out about him opening up his recruitment, just lots of speculation. Kind of unfair for you to throw the parents/family under the bus.

seems quite obvious no?

It seems obvious that a kid who's looking around because his committed school is currently a dumpster fire is only doing it because his family are making a secretive ploy with the AD of Tennessee to fire the head coach of the football team and using their son's commitment as the bargaining chip?

Yeah that's the most obvious explanation. Kids never look around when a team sucks or when it looks like the coach they committed to might be fired.

Vol fans are not even in consensus if firing Butch would help or hurt in relation to keeping Mays. Many are convinced that Mays has such a strong relationship with Jones, that firing Butch would guarantee Mays not signing with the Vols. Others are convinced that keeping Butch would drive Mays away. Bottom line, nobody knows what the reasons surrounding him choosing to "reopen his recruitment.".

A high school OLine recruit manipulating a head coach firing? Yeh, that's likely --- in some sitcom universe.

Per Loy: Mays actually quietly decommitted from Tennessee earlier this weekend. New leaders are Alabama and Notre Dame, with possible moves by Clemson and Ohio State.

"In addition, I’m told there is a connection between Hiestand and someone close to Mays, which is helping the Fighting Irish on this front."

Man, imagine the heat this kid and his family would get if he went to hated rival Alabama. That alone should push him to ND. LOL.

The Vols fans are pretty depressed at the thought of Mays opening up his recruitment. Not only is he a 5 star, hometown kid and a legacy, but he has been the ringleader trying to recruit kids to join him at Tennessee. If he ends up someplace else, there is a lot of concern that their recruiting class could blow up. If you would've asked any Vols fan two weeks ago, which recruit are you not worried about decommitting, it would've been Mays.

Well we've scene that scenario before, but how super duper awesome would that be to land this mountain of a boy/man?

There are a lot of things that make sense with him to ND.

And I hate to be this guy but ND & HH are making millionaires. You are the #3 OL in the country, maybe a guy who could potentially be better off at OG? Nobody is better at figuring this out than HH. I see a lot of Q in Mays. Why trust a once in a lifetime opportunity and ultra rare gift with someone other than the best?

Most of the talk on Vol boards is Clemson being the likely destination if he flips. He has visited there before and has a teammate attending Clemson this year (Amari Rodgers).

I'm with you about flipping to Bama. I think it's unlikely that he would flip to another SEC team, but who knows.

Obviously we will have an opportunity to impress him, but I think we would be behind Clemson at the moment.

I see the same thing, like Q. Nelson he could be a college LT and probably in the NFL but could truly elite as a OG.

I don't know if he could be a "very good" LT in college or in the pros, but given his frame, if the pros think he could play LT, they will definitely give it a try. It would take a DE about 15 minutes to get around him.

Unfortunately it may be:

Clemson National Championships: 1

Notre Dame National Championships: 0

Since 1998......

That matters more , maybe.

Clemson has had Alabama-like success over the past few years and it's continued into this year. They just built an amazing new facility for athletics. No surprise here...

Winning NC's is nice. Making huge paychecks for playing on Sundays is even nicer.

Mitch Hyatt will help that. It's what have you done for me lately. Kids don't give a shit who has drafted in 1998.

Clemson is an easy school to like and be impressed with. Checks all the boxes.
