I can name one “publisher” currently honking that horn on his board about how there’s nothing wrong with what Phil said. In fact, it’s actually cool and totally normal for him to run his mouth like this.

If he was knocking it out of the park at BC, then he might have something to whine about. Not happening….. so Phil is just whining that he couldn’t beat out Book.

The guys mentioned by name are Kelly and Long, but I think it’s fair to imply Rees into that group.

To be totally fair — Chip Long was a cancer that was hated by everyone, and I would not have wanted to play for him. And we all know that Kelly is a lazy, neglectful asshole (who had a lot of other good traits as a coach!) and it’s not surprising that these stories of him mishandling relationships are so prevelant.

Rees and Jurkovec had some alleged conflict, mainly over Jurkovec’s approach to the game and attitude. Is what it is, but contrast Jurkovec to Drew Pyne or Avery Davis or Brandon Wimbush and it’s total opposite approaches to life and football.

I, personally, don’t respect Jurkovec because he lacks talent, ability, and production. If he was *really good* and wanted to run his mouth about ND it’d be one thing but for a dude who has been in college for SIX YEARS to still be giving interviews about how his 2nd year coaches is crazy. If he was any good he’d be making these comments from NFL training camp somewhere. There is barely anyone left at ND at this point who even knew him.

Super juicy that BC is senior day this year…and this would have been Phil’s senior day had he stayed at ND most likely. Gotta think that’ll fuel our guys a little extra given that angle.

Honestly he comes off as a kid who had a dream to play at ND,… then whatever went wrong went wrong and now he’s acting like a kid who feels he was cheated out of that dream. I’m not excusing anything but that’s my gut here with his inability to let go

This. His feelings aren’t some revelation. That said, I think PJ would be best served moving on at this point. Journos are going to ask him about ND to generate clicks and page views—if I were Hafley I’d have him keep the focus on BC and what they’re looking to do this year and not something that is over 2-3 years into the past.

I agree with almost all of this especially that he should shut up about ND. However, he’s in his 5th year and is extremely talented albeit inconsistent. Most mocks have him going in the 1st or 2nd round and he has the 5th best odds to go #1 overall.

Frankly, I don't see how Phil makes it to our game in one piece.

They had to replace 4 of their 5 starters from last year's OL and their only returning starter, who was an All-ACC guard, was lost for the year.

They're breaking in an entire brand new offensive line. They also play Clemson and NC State before us, both sporting very good defensive fronts.

Really? I'm not going to pretend I've been following the 2023 drafts yet, but looking at the first several freebie mock drafts that Google returned I only saw one site list 5 Star Philure in the 1st round, 247's site, and it was one of the last picks. Seems like most sites have it going Stroud, Bryce Young, then some ordering between Kentucky's QB, Florida's, Miami's, and Washington State's (With others even after that). Other than 247's freebie mock draft I didn't even see Phil in the first two rounds on the other sites that had more than the 1st round played out.
