His recovery at 1:53 doesn't look even possible. One of the most athletic plays i've ever seen by a recruit.

Yup...for a safety to initially take the wrong angle on that play and then be able to recover like that was freakish. Speed kills!

I wonder how many of you would see that "elite speed" if you weren't told "elite speed" before watching.

You guys are nuts. Didn’t see the speed? What? He simply runs away from everyone. He has crazy twitch as well

It's pretty funny actually. The very first play shows him running away from defensive backs like they are slow lineman...

Idk man, he looks really fast to me. Has another gear. Truly enjoyed the tape, and I thought his athleticism was off the charts. Hope we get the highly unusual decommit to recommit.

So I watched his film and I wasn't blown away. If I didn't know he was a 10.5 kind of guy id have just thought good athlete, not elite speed.

I guess you can't always tell how fast someone is in film because it's all relative, but I just wasn't blown away.

still hope he comes here because obviously the staff and rankings like him. Just didn't see it.

You're just messing with us right???? .... Just being the contrarian you like to be??? hahahah

Kid looks GREAT to me... sign him up!

Here's another track guy, similar build, against better competition.

His speed translates a lot more to the football field, at least to me based on the highlights.

The play that starts around :45 in Lenzy's film is the one that convinced me.

The safety has the angle on him, collapsing him to the sideline with about ten yards cushion, and Lenzy still blows by and eliminates the safety's efforts at creating an angle and using the sideline as the defender. There is no good reason a runner should be able to squeeze through that lane, unless they have elite speed.

WR or DB or both for us? Because his film for defense looks excellent he already does 1 thing well that 95% of our corners and safeties never do and that's turn their head and look for the ball

I don't know man... I don't see anything better speed wise, in Schwartz's game. If you think this kid is fast, i don't see how you cant think Lenzy is fast as well. In fact, I like Braden's agility and hips more than this Schwartz kid (although Schwartz looks to be stronger)

Difference in opinion i suppose

I am torn on this too. We really need a take the top off talent like this on the offensive side, but his defensive film looks really good.

DB and kick/punt returner?

Greyhammer, once a great poster, now reducing himself to the "jump on the pile" kind of guy.

That's more disappointing to see than Lenzy's film.

I actually side with Koon on this one. Kid is fast, but he doesn't look like he has elite speed really. He's shiftier than I would have guessed, but I didn't really find myself saying "oh wow" when he was in the open field. Could be one of those things where he knows he's by far the best athlete on the field and is never going to get caught from behind so he rarely really goes 100%.

Either way, kid looks good and I'd be happy if he signed here. I wasn't blown away by Fuller or Stepherson in high school and those guys run by any CB so we'll see.

Also BK's track record with WRs is good enough I don't really care who he offers, I assume they can play.

If there's one thing I've been consistent on in my time as a poster, it's saying your opinion on football is ranges from ignorant to willfully contrarian. If that opinion is so widespread that you perceive it as "jumping on the pile" that says more about your opinion, doesn't it?

I could easily say the same about you, or any one else on a message board. That opinion is held by the group thinkers that like funny comments and jumping on. Anyone on a message board can take the lazy way out and say "that guy doesn't know football". And everyone on here could say that about everyone else. That makes for a sweet message board we can't all way to hop on, right?

Don't be one, be better. Think for yourself. Watch the film with an open mind and try to side step confirmation bias.

I'm not a contrarian. I just have a brain and a set of eyes and I use them rather than what Loy or some analyst tells me I should see.

Make a point I agree with and I'll agree. Stay stupid garbage and I'll call it that. Repeat stupid garbage ad nausum until the entire board thinks of you as a joke, and I'll call you a joke.

Typical Koon though. No chance you could be incorrect. No no. It's the rest of the posters who are wrong. Group think is the only explanation.

If you think Braden Lenzy's film looks like elite football speed, I disagree with you.

Am I going to call you an idiot for thinking that? No. And that's the difference between a good poster and a bad.

I could very well be wrong about his film. But I'm not afraid to say I'm not seeing it. Put your big boy pants on.

A kid this fast that has the skills to play defense too, you take him. To top it off, if you take him, you probably have a better shot at his younger brother who is on course to be one of the top DB's in his class.

This has got to be the worst perspective I've ever heard. "If I agree with you I'll let you know. If I disagree I'll call you stupid"/

You're right. I wouldn't normally call someone who expressed concerns over Lenzy's speed in film an idiot. You've earned that.

you can think for yourself and still be wrong tho...

Absolutely. Where did I say "he's definitely not fast" and anyone who thinks he is is wrong?

I actually said the opposite, and offered up that I could be wrong. To quote myself, "I hope I'm wrong and you guys are right".

There should be nothing to see here, I'm pointing out greyhammer's poor posts and awful perspective on opinions.

I like the Fuller comparison, because he wasn’t “elite” fast in HS. He was a 4.56 guy. He got in a proper S&C program and his speed increased dramatically. I think the same will happen with Lenzy. He seems to have a lot of physical development in front of him.

Just a little perspective Koon - take it or leave, I don't care.

When you make back to back posts like this it just sets the board up to criticize you. You first come in with a hot take that is drastically different from what ANYBODY else is saying and then you follow it up with a passive aggressive comment about how the rest of the board is following along with the group think mentality.

Absolutely. Where did I say "he's definitely not fast" and anyone who thinks he is is wrong?

See - you did basically say that anyone that thinks he is fast only thinks that because he is supposed to elite fast and YOU don't think so...cause Koon.

Then the backpedal comes and magically your post count rises through the stratosphere because of a big discussion. It's amazing really...

no you are just in here crying for a participation trophy because you had a unique thought.

ill agree the film doesnt just wow you with straight sprints to the finish but one thing ive noticed over my time around football is that track guys dont always look as fast as they are. when they have that good sprinters form already it can appear as tho they arent putting full effort or "gliding" when in fact they are really moving. \

as others have said there have been a few wr's in BKs time at ND that didnt jump off the film as having that kind of speed but do.
