That's comical, and everybody knows it. Normal students know it: 75% of students, when choosing between ND and OSU, pick ND. (That number would undoubtedly be higher if it only looked at OSU applicants outside of Ohio, because of the in-state discount.)

The mistake is assuming that academics matter to these sort of elite recruits. They don't. I can't blame him for wanting to play for an elite coach. We need to be able to sell academics and good football. We have the academics. Just not the good football.

...because he can offer bags of cash, no academic/university interference, and thus a multi-year training camp for the NFL... #4for40aslongasyoumakeittotheNFLandgetagoodcontract

Truth of the matter is... and the average sports fan can't grasp it... if ND gets one out of 4, they are kicking OSU's ass.

Why/How is Urban dominating Kelly?

Notre Dame signed the top two OL from Ohio in 2016...Both top 150 players...

I knew someone was going to point this out. Now list the recruits (and coaches lol) OSU has signed that ND wanted. Save time by listing 5-stars only, there's enough of them.

But seriously. I went back 3 years.:

Dallas Gant 4-star
Justin Hilliard 5-star
Baron Browning 5-star
Shawn Wade 5-star
Isaih Pryor 5-star
Haskell Garret borderline 5-star
Jerron Cage 4-star
Pete Werner 4-star
Jonathan Cooper 5-star
Austin Mack - underrated high 4-star
Jordan Fuller - underrated mid 4-star
Jashon Cornell - 4-star

Urban absolutely mushroom stamps ND in recruiting.

Check my edit.

I'm not gonna pick apart your list. OSU SHOULD get 3/4 of the HIGH rated recruits. These kids KNOW they are going to the NFL. OSU is the obvious choice. Why have ND put you through the academic gauntlet when all you need is 3 years at a quality school (influential alumni association), go to the League and then you are accepted as an alumni of said school for life without ever having to go back for you bachelors?

A lot of ND offers to these kids come with a checklist for commitability that never gets tackled. I saw two on your list that I know of this being a factor. When ND is on equal ground = high academic OL's, TE's and QB's, ND does just fine.

But the higher the kid, the more likely they go to a school that pumps out NFL talent and SECONDLY has a chance to win a Championship.

And to remind you and the board, I get it. I get the Dean Smith and Coach Cal models. The Jadaveon Clowney's of the world have no business or reason going to ND. He had no reason to go to BAMA. He just needed to get into a school that was going to let him play for three full years and stay out of his way.

But seriously. I went back 3 years.:

Dallas Gant 4-star
Justin Hilliard 5-star Not to bent out of shape about it. Hilliard severely lacked size and can't stay healthy. We got Coney as a result.
Baron Browning 5-star
Shawn Wade 5-star
Isaih Pryor 5-star
Haskell Garret borderline 5-star
Jerron Cage 4-star Ohio State only had 1 other DT in the class, while ND had 3.
Pete Werner 4-star Werner's position was being phased out. We essentially replaced him with JOK at the Rover.
Jonathan Cooper 5-star
Austin Mack - underrated high 4-star
Jordan Fuller - underrated mid 4-star We wanted him for S. He wanted to play CB
Jashon Cornell - 4-star Stopped recruiting him. Major red flags.

Urban absolutely mushroom stamps ND in recruiting.

That still doesn't look good. Especially in that article, UM has really taken advantage of ND's abysmal season. No shocker that ND wasn't able to win any battles with Ohio State after 2016 began.

Don't kid yourself about Werner. ND lost him, they didn't trade, they didn't nothing except lose him. He wasn't going to be a ROVER. He's already up over 230. Would have been the perfect BUCK. That kid is going to play in the 240's. I hate to say it but I hope he bombs at OSU so he can be used as an example in future battles. Elko and Lea would have put him in the league if his hips are fixed, he risks getting lost in the sauce over in Columbus.

Also he's a much better football coach.

NDC is spot on. Regardless of what is offered and what the long range future states, most of these 4 & 5 star kids and to an extent some 3 stars have their sites set on the NFL whether it is realistic or not. They may get shown stats on how few really make it, but most of the don't think those numbers apply top them, because they're different in their minds.

Regardless of the academics, all of these kids are being recruited to play football first and foremost, even at ND. It's just that ND makes them work towards that diploma. If we can start finishing in the top ten annually and make some playoff appearances we will land our share of the top kids.

Probably looking to start and if he wasn’t getting snaps for OSU I’d be surprised if he did for us in 2022.

Likely not the last OSU defensive guy to transfer here soon

I don't know if LB is where we should be looking in the portal. If they can't get Nwankpa, then S is priority #1. And maybe #2.

I feel like I've seen Gant on the field plenty through OSU's first few games... though it's usually on a replay of a big play for the other team.

Did he get demoted and is already trying to hit the road?

Does this have anything to do with the apparent poor coaching happening at OSU right now on the defensive side? They seem to be struggling mightily and I know the fans have been very upset with the new DC (Coombs I think?) and the LB coach Al Washignton. I wonder if more players are on the fence about transferring or if this is truly a one off thing. A quick twitter search and comments makes it seem like this is a surprise to most of the fans. I mean his replacement in 2 games hasn't recorded a tackle yet...

Palaie Gaoteote was recently cleared to play. I have no idea how he's looked but he was highly rated so maybe he's going to take his snaps moving forward.

Yes, if you check the Eleven Warriors website, quite a few posts referencing Tommy starting in front of Dallas. Not totally sure if they were saying Dallas should be starting in front of Tommy or if they were saying that Dallas must really suck if he can't start over Tommy.

Per the radio it sounds like Cody Simon has actually taken Giant’s snaps.
