Unless Emil makes a big effort to improve his technique, strength and conditioning, i dont see him as part of this class. At the moment he purely relies on his bulk and flops into/outof a lot of blocks. Big senior year for him.

Following up on Crusader's Feb post: Reportedly has only limited contact with Michigan, not even sure if they still want him.

Ekiyor still considers himself a solid Michigan commit but communication has fallen off quite a bit in recent months. Alabama is making a hard push for him and he's just trying to figure out if he's still wanted in U-M's class. He plans to spend a night or two in Ann Arbor very soon to get a feel for where things stand and will go from there.

I'll make the least bold prediction ever and say he doesn't end up at Michigan.

Alabama is making a huge push, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's where he ended up.

Dear Harry,

Are you really really really sure he's not athletic enough?

I'll tell you this again. Sayler took his spot!

?

The staff has never really been that high on Emil and I'm not sure HH recruits guys who are just guards. And I understand he has taken guys who can be guards on centers only but he really recruits guys who have the ability to play 4-5 positions along the OL. He likes flexibility in the OL and Emil will only give you production at guard and his foot speed and football shape have always been a question with him. Staff seems to have never been that high on him. I have a hard time believing this kid ends up at Michigan unless ND never really wanted him. It would be like us taking a kid from Detroit that Michigan wants

Come on, HH recruits OG/OC only's. Too many to list.

So early on when some around the net tried saying he wasn't athletic enough or he was too fat I took it... until he ripped off a 102 Sparq, running one of the fastest 40's and shuttles in the class. There's more to this than what the rumors are.

HH recruits guards and centers I stated that but he also recruits guys with position flexibility and I'm not sure Emil gives you that.

Honestly besides Ruhland and Hoge who has HH recruited that can only play guard on center? I think he recruits pure centers like Hoge and Mustipher but besides Drisken who could play tackle Ruhland is the only guy who pops in my head where everyone knew he only had one position and that was at guard.

Wow GB that went way over your head. I didn't realize I had to put that in italics for you.

All these guys were either interior linemen in HS, rated as interior lineman or brought into ND with the idea they would be interior lineman.

Sam Mustipher
Tristen Hoge
Parker Boudreaux
John Montelus
Trevor Ruhland
Jimmy Byrne
Dillon Gibbons
Robert Hainsey
Aaron Banks

Isn't HH on record saying he recruits 3 types of OL. OT's only, OT/OG swing players, and OG/C (interior) only prospects. All players fit into those categories. It's pretty obvious that HH recruits interior only players.

Byrne, Hainsey, and Banks were definitely in the OT/OG world. But the point stands.

In HH's mind, just Hainsey and his life as the 3rd string OT will only last on paper through his redshirt season. In fact, he's probably working on his snapping right now.

Which I completely don't get. Some of the guys thought he looked very good as an EE, even at tackle, and now he's snapping? I get that he's not Stanley or McGlinchey, but that's crazy to me

I get that but ND has some real no brainers at OT. Lugg is going to own one of the OT spots in 2018. Eichenberg or Kraemer will own the other as they audition for it this year. And as you mentioned yesterday, the '18 OL class (for ND at least) is sub par even if NPF jumps aboard. 2019 is a year of plenty at true OT's and early returns say ND is going to rake.

Even though Hainsey was the starting LT at IMG for 2 years the subplot to his recruiting story was always he was going inside, even with the services. If he is as good as they say and you have the other spots locked down with specific players with the proper physical skill set, let him be the QB and run the line. I see him at center and a multi year captain.

Kraemer & Eich: If I were the staff, I'd let Kraemer play guard and Eich take tackle and be the replacements for Big Mike & Q next year. Or is that too much shuffling around?

For Hainsey: I remember him always being touted as a guard, but didn't they start him at Tackle when he EE'd? I thought he held his own there too, which makes the move to snapping puzzling to me. Clearly it worked for Martin the Younger, I just was curious that they moved him so soon.

Yahoo my front page says he isn't very "committed" to SCum and cb picks trending towards 'Bama.

He and Stepp had a good win last night vs. Roncalli who was #1 in IN class 5A for most of the season. Another tough match up vs IN's 5A #3 ranked Decatur Central coming next Friday. DC has a stud running back going to Iowa, Donald Johnson, who will be tough to stop.

He's been trending away from UM for a really long time.

I trust HH, but damn....

Decatur Central has the Tracy's (cousins in the '18 & '19 classes) who are both committed to Iowa. Johnson is at North Central.

I can't believe Ekiyor is still thought of as a Michigan commit. Way too much negative stuff floating around along with his flirting with Bama.

I wouldn't be upset if HH gave up and took him at the last minute. He's the same height as Mustipher. According to Nike Testing, he's the 2nd most athletic nationally recruited lineman... behind Bishop Gorman's Daniel Issia (sp?) (MSU Commit). Scoring over 100 is really tough to do for OL's.

Flipped to Bama
I think everyone saw this coming.......and normally I'd be ecstatic about someone spurning that $hit hole up north, but I've grown to hate Bama just about as much, lol

Going to Bama does not upset me nearly as much. Saban sells a great program, just a crap academic school. But lets face it, so few of these kids are actually going to school for the degree, especially when they are top ranked.

Sadly, Sabans sales pitch isnt true for most the cases. Most the Bama players are not going to the pros and then you have guys working street cleaning detail in Tuscaloosa remembering glory days.

I agree that Saban does a tremendous job at selling their program. Kids buy into it every year. Just hate it as so many times, he can just pick whomever he wants.......smh
