Now this is brutal. Not because we're losing proven production but we're losing depth and options at a position that needs them. For all the love Joseph gets for Hamilton he needs to get some of these guys ready to go.

There are LOADS of players transferring this year. ND could easily replace depth, if they want to do so.

Does joseph even deserve credit for Hamilton? He's as naturaland can't miss as they come.

There's probably going to be at least a dozen people that enter the portal from ND. Part of the reason why the recruiting class was so large this year.

With Griffith, it's hard to know what to think because they tried him at both corner and safety and it just didn't work. I still think he has the upside to be an NFL player, and this is one of the very few cases where time will tell if there was a "coaching" issue or something else holding him back.

This is quite a bit of snaps to lose no way around it. He actually played 215 snaps this year which is more than players like Marist, Cross, Ovie, Mills, and Lacey.

And it's really frustrating to consider that Crawford, who played terrible football at times, played 654 snaps and more than any other defender. It was Joe Schmidt esque.

Coaching and development is a major issue in the secondary. Way too many unproductive players.

It wouldn't feel like a big loss if Joseph leaves.

I'd like to take this time to guarantee that Lenzy and Keys will be gone next spring

I really thought we were getting a stand out player when he signed. I am not sure if he can't catch on or the favoritism comes in to play here. This will if nothing else hurt depth which we needed back there.

I don't care how much he underperformed, this is not good. Not good at all. Safety was already a HUGE question mark. Hope playing (incredibly flawed) Crawford over Houston was worth it.

The guy offered nothing. I don't get why folks are upset about this.

Obvious that he has talent. I was disappointed that it hadn’t quite clicked yet. Was REALLY hoping for him to step in and play well next year. I’m of the opinion this isn’t a good thing (him leaving).

I know having talent is different than being productive, but I just thought he had all the tools....

Because other than Hamilton we don't have a single proven safety next year and losing Griffith only makes it less likely that we find one already on the roster.

He was so good he couldn't unseat Crawford (who was flat out awful at times)? Color me skeptical on Brown's likelihood of being impactful. But let's say he is. We still lost our best depth piece.

DJ Brown, who couldn't unseat a "terrible" Crawford > HG who couldn't unseat either.

I am not trying to be down on HG, I REALLY wanted him to be a superstar, but something just didn't click. Not sure if it was him/coaching whatever. He was still valuable in his role and will be missed. Im just not going to lose sleep over it.

The same is true of Griffith, no? I'm disappointed at losing depth and experience in an secondary that lacks both. I'm happier losing Griffith than Brown based on their performances, though.

Definitely love Crawford for all he did for ND, but its clearly time to move forward there.

Listen, enough of the Crawford slander. So he looked bad against Bama and their passing game and Cremson and their passing game. Join the club.
He was a great player who deserves respect.

Its too bad for Houston Griffith. I seriously cannot remember a single play he made. He just could not make an impact for some reason. Hopefully he goes and does well somewhere.
