Roderick Campbell from Northwestern entered the transfer portal. Was on NDs radar out of HS and camped there, but Julian Love got that spot before him. I think that worked out well for ND.

I'm not sure how much of an option he'll be. I'm also unsure how much he played in the base defense. But he was credited with 32 games played, with 12 tkls and 2 PD's, for his entire career. That seems like he was primarily a ST's guy. Now, when you don't play or aren't productive on a bad team there can always be blame that goes both ways but I'd assume there would be other names higher on the list.

This.

If your names not Greg "ND shoulda offered me" Newsome, I'm not interested. Still cannot believe ND passed on him.

Also...

A coach affiliated with BOOM! 7v7 told me that Griffith was promised a chance to play CB and that was a requirement for him to sign with ND.

Reality is, he played FS at IMG, not CB. (That went to his buddy, Greg Newsome who transferred in for the '17 season and OU's Bookie Radley Hiles)

Hopefully he's settled into the thought of playing next to Hamilton. He's got the genetics to be a nasty SS and one that has plus pass defense skills in the passing game.

How are we not able to land a stud CB? I just don't get it. The PT is obviously there.

Shaun Crawford is the most important player the staff has to "recruit" over the next month! I'd feel good going in to next year with Crawford & Bracy starting.

no offense to crawford, but even if he comes back the liklihood of him staying healthy for a whole season is minimal at best.

we need to get better at Corner. A LOT better

I got a good feeling about Griffith. He seems to be a highly motivated young man where once he gets comfortable at a position, should flourish under Joseph and Lea. I think he'll be a breakout candidate for the defense this year. Apparently he tests off the charts.

its too bad he didnt get spring practices. Hoping he can continue his growth without.

Agreed, I think there are always a handful of guys that benefit the most from Spring ball and Houston would've been one of them. However, I have read multiple reports that he was showing extremely well during the end of last season. Basically, he's better prepared that what his playing time might suggest and that was just due to depth chart.

Lea did an interview a couple months back or so with BGI and he was quite confident in the S group. Though we may not know what we have opposite Hamilton, I think he does.

Could our S play actually get better after losing Elliot and Alohi?

Between Hamilton, Griffith, Pryor, Bracy, Crawford, McCloud, and JOK you have a lot of options for the Nickel and Dime packages. Varying skill sets and attributes.

Anyone know what his snap counts have been by game this year? I feel like I haven't seen him a lot.

Sucks that he's not the guy to be opposite of Hamilton instead of Crawford
