Basically, Gus's CB was that he was expecting Griffith to visit ND and give his commitment. Since it doesn't look like that is taking place, and instead Griffith may visit other schools, he went to foggy on his CB.

Huge overreaction by 247, IMO. It's obviously not good news, but all he's really saying is he's not committing to ND soon and will take other visits. He hasn't eliminated ND. He's just going to take more visits.

Have heard twice today that Houston Griffith is currently a silent to OSU.

The first was from an Indiana guy who chums around with one of the ND analysts and then from a non-ND analyst who oddly reached out to me recently about '19 recruits.

Hopefully it's all smoke from Griffith's camp.

Hearing the same and from a different source based who it sounds gave you the info.

Also was told Cook, despite all of the CBs, will not be going to OSU. Making even more room for Houston.

Isn't being a silent to OSU like saying you are verbally committed to OSU, but OSU is not yet willing to commit to you? In other words they like you, but they like Players A, B, and C better and are waiting to hear from them.

I have no idea what is going on with Griffith. Period.

But from OSU boarding house article

** Silent but solid? ... We've heard whispers of silent verbal commitments in the Class of 2018. Meaning what? Meaning several elite prospects have already let Ohio State know they are coming to Columbus long term.

So what is the hold up if they know and Ohio State knows they know?

"It is true an actually there are two kids that are in," a source said of the silent commitment whispers. "They want to visit other schools, see some games and have some fun. They have been convinced by some schools that they will not invite them to visit if they verbal [to Ohio State]. That is ridiculous but they believe it so they are not making an announcement."

Recruiting ... not exactly the most transparent thing going

Maybe Griffith? I don't think so

Kamyrn Babb would be one of my guesses along with Micah Parsons. Tyreke Smith as well but it's no secret those three will be playing for Urbs. Same with Jackson Carman and that OL from Brooklyn. Only OSU can have two 5*'s committed with two other top 50 players. Their recruiting is something like in NCCA the video game. Just pick and choose which top 100 prospects you want

And never get too hype.

What a game that was and then the season is just to frustrating to talk about

I was soooo blacked out that night that the only plays I really remember was bad Max's pick and Shumate housing it. I was wayyy to hype for that game that I just got way to drunk before the game. Mixed with a little bit of Green Bay's finest and I was just done.

Per Marc Givler of Buckeye Grove, he's at OSU today for their camp, working out.

I think it's obvious where he wants to go. Now, will they have room is another question. However, Urbie did tell him they want him.

As of today, it does seem like ND is a 2nd or 3rd option. However, OSU might not have the space and maybe a big season can change his perception of ND football. Can't really fault the staff here, they've been all over this kid.

Why are we provoking Harbaugh here? Yah he might think its cute. But come next year when ND plays them I see the result going totally the other way.

Because ND fans can't tremble at the thought of playing Michigan two years from now? We have no idea how good we will be or how good they will be.

I'll say this: Rashan Gary scares me from two years out - I really wish we'd have Q, Bars and McG (Mustipher has another year I believe?).

OSU might not have room for Griffith hopefully.

IDK if this happens. But if it does, on one hand, great.

On the other hand, how sad is it that the jewel of our class made it here only because he wasn't good enough to make OSU's. That's insane.

I don't think they're provoking intentionally. They want to make football cards, so the stat sheet is going to mention the freshman-phenom's first big game, which will be scUM.

It might have been less antagonistic had the card said "Griffith lead the Irish to a dramatic victory, returning an INT for score in the final minutes to secure a 31-21 lead" or something like that, but that kind of defeats the spirit of the idea, I think.

Also isn't Derrik Allen the jewel of the class so far with Jayson close behind? Griffith would sure be up there, but I thought Allen > Griffith

Seems like that card has him peaking in his first game haha.

If you could somehow get a hold of all the cards that were sent out and all the stats together, I'm guessing the stat line for the defense in that Michigan game would be 250 tackles, 12 forced fumbles and 10 interceptions. LOL

I'm assuming that everyone that received a card, it probably listed them as a team captain. Can't wait till the 2020 football season when we have 25 team captains.
