PFF has Patterson ranked as the second highest graded P5 pass blocking center. (85.4% grade)

Pretty neat.

Man, this line could take a massive step forward. So much competition for those guard spots and backup tackles/center better be putting in the work because we've seen how quickly things change.

Health/injury prevention are crucial to how next year goes. We are incredibly strong with our starters. Can we develop a QB to take advantage of what's in front (and behind) them?

More great news. Feels like the team thinks they can do something special. Well, it starts week 1!

Hopefully Buch is putting in overtime all off-season. He’s only a sophomore but the time is now. With all the returning veterans. He needs to be ready.

That is three 6 star recruits this offseason between Patterson, Foskey and the NW transfer. Twins are up there too in high value announcements.

The Ohio State game is looking a lot less intimidating now.

Trying to defend JSN is going to be nightmarish, but ND returns at least 4 starters on the OL and only lose 2 guys in the rotation on the DL, and get back Marist from injury.

Meanwhile, Ohio State looks to be losing a lot up front. NPF and Munford are gone for sure, and Dawand Jones might declare as well. And on their DL, they could very well be replacing every starter from that unit.

We could go in with a pretty sizable advantage on the fronts. I don't envy their new left side of the line. First game, they have the herculean task of defending both Foskey and Marist.

It should still be pretty intimidating lol Ohio State had the #1 offense in 2021 and might repeat that feat in 2022. They'll have two guys that might be the top two Heisman favorites.

Notre Dame's biggest question mark is QB. That's usually not ideal. We're not sure if he can throw worth a lick...and we're not sure he'll have guys to throw to.

That said, option football is the great equalizer and Rees only needs one gameplan to beat Ohio State. Any given Saturday sorta stuff.

Three Heisman contenders total. Stroud, Henderson and JSN.

Not to nitpick lol.

Prister says he tore his pec. Surgery needed but should be ready for the season opener.

So, the Jarrett Patterson to OG conversation is about to get started again. From Freeman’s interview with Eric Hansen. Zeke Correll’s strong Spring at C has then entertaining the idea of moving him to OG.

Pretty sure Prister or O'Malley already reported that as a near certainty right after spring ended

Definitely a positive for his draft stock, centers seldom go in the first round. If he plays as well as he has the past few years, he'll solidify a day 1 selection. Plus guards make more $$.

Top 10 C's average salary in the NFL is $9.9M
Top 10 G's: $13.1MM.

And that's considering Nelson still hasn't gotten the bag from Indy yet. His cap hit was "only" $7.7M last year which wasn't even top 10. He'll make over $13M before his contract is up in 2023, but I assume Indy will work out a long term deal with him before then.

i'll eat crow if wrong but no way in hell are you moving one of the top five centers in the nation when healthy to OG during his last year after spending all these years playing only center

The only reason Patterson moved to Center to begin with is Harry’s overarching philosophy of the top 5 play. If he needs to move a tackle to center or a center to guard….the top 5 play. Harry will not even blink in moving Patterson to guard if he thinks that puts the best 5 on the field.

Harry left for the Bears before Patterson was even offered by ND.
You are right. I was reading an article about Patterson that talked about the reason that he got switched to Center was to get the 5 best on the field. I automatically thought of Harry.

Point still remains the same. Harry has repeatedly preached the philosophy, you play the 5 best, even if it means moving people.

To me, Center is so important. They call the protections, identify the Mike, trap block and touch the ball on every play.
There is only one Center and when Dallas built their excellent o-line, I believe Yravis Frederick was drafted first.
