Depends how you look at it. I like Boykin's film, I liked Brown's Sr. film best but Boykin was right behind him. I've been on Boykin, Brown and Taiyon Palmer (who deco'd from Duke 2 weeks ago) for a long time so I'll be happy if Boykin gets into this class.

The down side to Boykin for me is I don't know what his athletic ceiling is. He never tested at the Opening and he doesn't run track. His film shows everything a good CB needs except a burst and speed that catches your eye. To be honest though... It's not as important for a guy with his length - who plays the ball in the air as well as he does - to be a 4.5's kinda prospect.

Comparing him to Wilkins, you have to like his film at CB more than Wilkins. They appear to be similar in physical skillset but Boykin's film is about him being a CB-returner and Wilkins is more of a WR-returner. They both are missing any impressive data from the opening and neither are accomplished track guys. Neither's open field speed jumps off the screen. Once again, at their height it's not as important.

Bracy is different. Where Boykin and Wilkins are your stretch CB's like Watkins, Bracy is your 5-11 CB like Love. The difference is, Love is who he is and never broke 4.7 in testing. Bracy ran a laser 4.56 the summer before his Jr. year... and he's not a track guy, he's just naturally P5 fast. His film mostly shows his TD's and offensive production but he has a TON of defensive production. He'll have a Sr. film in a couple of weeks after the state championships are done. He has 3 Pick 6's so far this year so there's definitely some D film that will make the tape.

So to answer the question of who would I rather have? Bracy. When you throw in 6-2 Wilkins being aboard already then the gap widens. When you add the insurance policy of him being a potential APB / Slot if the need ever arose, it's a no brainer for me.

This breakdown pleases me a great deal. A non-track athlete that runs a 4.56 is going to be more than fast enough to play any position. What was his shuttle? Once you know they are fast enough at full stride, I typically want to know if they can change direction easily.

Opening Regional - Oakland:

40 = 4.56

40 = 4.49

PB = 32

Vert = 34.8

Total = 81.99

Shuttle is meh but may have simply been a bad attempt. Can't fake a laser 4.56 at the Opening... as a 15/16 year old to boot.

Should this be italics aided?

Had 3 TD's, one rush, one receiving and one PR and an INT (I think) as Milpitas beat El Centro for the 4A state championship 45-41.

Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up on the offensive side of the ball at some point.

Also... ND has a lot of state champs or runner ups in this class. I like winners.

Why don't we let guys play both ways

I'm not a huge fan of this.

I can only think of like three guys that played both ways in recent years: Adoree Jackson, Jabril Peppers, and Myles Jack. It just isn't a common thing and I'm sure there is a reason for it.

Wherever they think he can best help this team win games, put him there.

Finished with 254 yards on 30 carries, had 46 yards receiving in the first half. 3 TD's total: 1 rush, 1 rec, 1 PR.

Milpitas wins CIF-State 4A title

EL CENTRO – Milpitas drove 54 yards late in the fourth quarter to post a come-from-behind 45-41 win over Southwest-El Centro in the CIF State 4-A championship game Saturday night.

It was the first state football championship in school history for the Trojans.

“We played a great team and they came back hard on us but in the end we made the plays,” said Milpitas coach Kelly King.

The game started slowly for the Trojans as Southwest deferred and kicked off to the visitors.

Milpitas drove but ultimately punted, and Tyler Saikhon caught a 69-yard pass for a touchdown and 7-0 lead.

The Trojans answered on their next play from scrimmage with a 70 yard touchdown run by Tariq Bracy.

Southwest went back on top 14-7, but Bracy scored again to make it 14-14.

Senior kicker Mariano Robles then hit a 20-yard field goal and Milpitas was ahead 17-14. It was the first of three field goals by Robles, who also connected from 27 and 37 yards.

“I knew I was going to play a big part in this game,” Robles said. “I came into the game thinking that if it came down to making a kick to win I could do it.”

Milpitas then took a 24-14 lead into halftime as Tyree Bracy found brother Tariq on a 35-yard pass play.

With Tariq Bracy rushing for 161 first-half yards on 12 carries and with the Milpitas defense having held Southwest’s Saikhon to just four yards, things looked good for the Trojans.

Things looked even better for the Trojans when senior defensive captain Gabriel Erickson intercepted a pass that Robles converted into three points and a 27-14 lead.

“I watched film and so I keyed on the fullback and saw him creeping out and the linemen moving forward and I figured screen and made a play on the ball,” Erickson said.

And it looked even better when the Trojans forced an Eagle punt that Tariq Bracy returned 57 yards for a touchdown.

Leading 34-14 just minutes into the third quarter, Milpitas looked primed to put the game away.

That’s when Southwest’s Derrek Guzman split the seam of the Trojans secondary for a touchdown, then Southwest scored again when Milpitas fumbled a hand off. The ball popped out of the air and a Southwest defender raced 79 yards to score.

In less than two minutes Milpitas’ 20 point lead had been cut to six points.

“I thought we were taking the game … we’ve done that this season,” Erickson said. “Then we blew a couple of coverages and they made plays.”

Robles’ third field goal on the first play of the fourth quarter put Milpitas up 37-28, but Southwest came back to cut the lead to 37-35.

The Trojans were forced to punt on their next possession and Saikhon scored from 49 yards out on a pass play with 3:42 to play. Suddenly, Milpitas trailed 41-37.

“The way they battled back down by 20, that’s the way this team is,” said Southwest coach Tom Mitosinka. “They came back on heart. They are a resilient group of kids and I’m proud of them and their coaches.”

Milpitas’ Noah Rodriguez made a strong kickoff return to the Trojan 46-yard line and Tyree Bracy then found Tuni Fifta on a 39-yard touchdown pass. Tariq Bracy’s two-point conversion run gave Milpitas a four-point lead.

“This is an amazing feeling,” Tariq Bracy said after the game. “This team came together when we had too. We dealt with adversity, but that’s what good teams do.”

“I know the story of these guys who have played together for four years,” Robles said. “To help them win it was very special.”

Is this our potential emergency RB should Holmes not return to the team?

(Assuming we can't get a respectable late-cycle addition or a grad transfer)

I would be willing to bet that he starts at RB, if we sign another CB.

Sign Mychale Salahuddin & Noah Boykin and both of your issues of having another CB and RB are solved

I thought he might get a look on that side for talent alone and then need reared its ugly head.

This is why when you have a choice between a two-way guy and and one-way guy, you take the two-way.

... unless you are in Cincinnati, then you get the 3 way. Shoutout to the Queen City boys!

Pretty sure this will get some non-football responses.

Vaughn was replaced by this young man.

Looks like he could push for the starting role next season if Julian Love moves on to the league.

Out of three corners signed last season, by consensus, he was the lowest rated but yet has played the most significant role so far this season. That’s just amazing.

I was very impressed by him yesterday. There is another one that the "experts" got right!

In all seriousness though, on Pitt's last drive, there was a pass breakup that had two true freshmen involved on defense (Griffith and Bracy). All I could say to myself was, "that right there is our future".

Bracy played great

I know Vaughn didn’t play great but didn’t they want to mix in Bracy to get Vaughn a breather?
