Look, I see what you're doing/saying. The fact is, there's never officially been any talk from ND or Adebo regarding him playing WR at ND. Considering he killed it at UA and our depth issue at X WR, yes, it would hurt a lot IF he was going to play WR but all indications are that he was going to play corner. This decommitt SUCKS, especially long term. He was one of our best recruits. Luckily he wasn't like Studstill last year where we needed him to come in and start for us week 1. There was a chance he wouldn't have played much or at all at DB this year. This is my opinion.

That is all well and good but what will the next coach be inheriting when he has back to back meh classes on the national scale along with what is sure to be a tumultuous 2018 class regardless if he stays or goes.

It is ahead of Florida, Texas, PSU, USC, Tenn., Clemson, Miami, Washington, and UCLA. I'm not saying I'd rather have our class more than any of those, not going to take the time to go over that. And, I would agree that there are concerns with depth, at certain positions, but this is far from a talentless class that will leave ND is shambles with a new coach, provided that coach is a good one.

A good example is, we lack numbers and playmakers at WR. Well its certianly a good thing that we have an "elite" TE haul. Pretty darn good at OL and RB. A good coach can win games with that product. It just might look a little bit different than what we are used to. Like Kelly mentioned when talking about Chip Long's scheme or plans, he can gameplan with 2-3 TE sets, multiple RB's in the backfield etc. Not saying Chip is the answer, but a good coach can make this work with what we'll have.

Staff probally told him he was going to play DB, if I were him I'd go to a school that would use me at WR.

He knew the whole time he was going to be a DB, also if Adebbo said he wanted to play WR the staff wasn't gonna be like see ya later. He just got his dream offer and left. Can't fault the kid for choosing their dream school, would you be mad at your son? This is what happens when you go 4-8 a lot of things in recruiting aren't going to go your way.

He also did it playing against a pathetic non conference and a weaker than usual pac12. The two most athletic teams he played they got beat handidly. Let's put it this way....they were not one of the best four teams this year. He'll use was the best team in the conference

Notre Dame needs to squash the momentum Stanford has had the last ten years. They need to be put back in their place.

But Adebo is high on academics and let's face it, Stanford is the Ivy League of the West.

Adebo's the first one they've taken from ND in this class.

Sarrell and OSB were always their's. DWP was down ND's board and they quit recruiting him.

If you flip the script, did Stanford lose Adams, Ewell or any of the other ND commits who they offered?

DWP is the only player offered by both schools from a cold winter state that ended up at Stanford, and he didn't have a choice to pick ND in the end.

Exactly this IMO... You can get a top notch education, with a program that has been better over last 10 years and you get nice weather and not 0 degree winters

Not mad he chose Stanford, great school, great choice. But if you're waiting to hear back from Stanford to see if you get in, don't waste ND's time by holding a spot they could've filled. Instead, this is just another hole ND has to fill with a month left in the cycle. Just stay uncommitted and wait for Stanford to give you the green light, if it doesn't happen, ND is still there.

Hope he makes the most of himself in the classroom at Stanford and has a healthy career. That's as far as I'll go, I don't wish him luck on the field.

You would do the EXACT same thing. if you didn't, you'd be a fool.

This is how the system is set up. It will be that way until there is an early signing day or better yet, you can officially sign at anytime.

If you want to play top tier football at a top tier program that expects you to acquire a top tier education, you have two choices. You have to do what it takes to get into one of them. If you wait too long for an offer or admissions... you may end up a rung down the ladder at Evanston, Durham or gulp... Nashville.
