Re-read my post buddy. I never accused you of anything. it was a general statement about using hyperbole too much.

Then I don't get why you would reference it unless you meant to apply it to me directly. The context may have been misunderstood but I hope you understand why I would think you were referring to me particularly and not just making a general statement.

Lucky...I get what you're saying but the two phrases are similar. It doesn't make it stupid...and unless you hold every board member to the same as far as stating exactly what they mean...I don't see why it's a big deal. Next time someone post a non-literal phrase like "man we killed Texas" I expect you to tell them that that is stupid because Texas isn't dead...we just beat them by 18 points.

Actually...Must win actually applies a lot in sports.

Like you "must win" a playoff game. Or "must win" a game to get into the playoffs.....etc

But this is hilarious. I'm new and loving this.

In the case of clinching a playoff birth...but the reason why I specifically used the Stanford game as a reference was because people considered it a must win even though it did not guarantee us a playoff. You're referring to situations where teams are already in the playoff or guaranteed a spot if they win so it's different. Just like landing Phillips doesn't guarantee us anything so that's why the phrase "must get" is stupid apparently. Is the phrase must win as it applied to Stanford last year also...stupid? That's what I was askng

So is the phrase "must win" stupid and dramatic too. Last year many people considered Stanford a must win if we wanted to get in the 4 team playoff even though it did not mean we automatically were in or were awarded a NC. If we don't land him, ND will go on...but when players of his caliber are interested I would like to close with at least a few. Complaining about a damn phrase is hysterical when you know damn well what I meant. No need to be condescending to others on the board

So how about saying : "ABSOLUTES SUCK! ------ UNLESS YOU ARE TALKING VODKA!"

And leave it at that?

Never mind listening to me --

I am prone to gross hyperbole!

Because this whole brouhaha was started by other posters, among whom, some hyperbolize most of the time, so as it is hard to tell when they are being serious.

I bet!

Me too!

But must win in a single game elimination situation is an oxymoron, right?

So someone faced with using that ox, is really on the horns of a dilemma, aren't they?

Listened to a new podcast on 247 and Loy said its a 50-50 coin flip if he goes to ND

It's funny to me that others have said he's a huge Bama lean and OU is running number two. Now according to a ND mod it's 50-50

I am not bashing him so before his boyfriend Koon comes running to his defense I know the guy works his ass off but I have a hard time believing his sources sometimes. Usually when he is on the money he gets direct quotes and heads up for the player/recruit not so much the sources. Same can be said in a sense lately about Wiltfong

Scout (Chad Simmons): great visit to Oregon. Loved the crowd and game day. Ugo Amadi, Duck player, is from the same area as Phillips which helps

Opposite. LSU is really swimming. Have back to back cupcakes but LSU could be looking at a 4-5 win year with three of the wins coming against barely D1 teams plus a bad Miss St team.

I think he means that Les getting fired would only result in good things for LSU.

If I were a parent of a recruit with an LSU offer, and it looked like Les was on his way out, it would INCREASE my interest in having my kid commit to the Tigers. Chances are that you're gonna get the best coaching name on the market, like a Tom Herman. Get in that class while you can and wait for the home-run hire.

This, thanks.

I meant that if I were a recruit that really liked LSU, I would guess that the next coach was going to be an improvement over Les. His firing would be a plus for me. All that talent has been underutilized.

Do we really think that LSU has the money to hire Herman in addition to that buyout?

LSU doesn't have enough money to hold (for all the students) classes!

So what's going on here? He's still visiting ND this weekend I assume. What's the big deal with this change of another OV?

The state doing away with college to help relocate residents that still don't have homes.

Just give them free UHaul rental and a $500 one time voucher then direct them to South Phoenix. No hurricanes, $300/mo rent and better monthly freebies from the various state and federal programs than Louisiana provides. After a while, you just have to realize... IT FLOODS A LOT IN LOUISIANA... LEAVE.
