His film looks real good. Welcome to ND
Interesting
When is the last time ND had a QB transfer in?
I don't think keys or lenzy are good at football and so we're likely going to be running out a WR core with very little experience. Coan looks like a guy who will spread the ball around which is a great way to build their confidence and keep them engaged.
I think the possibly of the passing attack being a shitshow under Coan is close to zero while it's certainly possible with the three we have currently. If it's a shitshow then you get to the point where receivers arent developing or worse - leaving the program.
I get the politics argument but they'll both be here in the spring so it's not like benching an incumbent or existing leader. If Buchner is really clearly better then I think he'll start, even if it's not week one. But the jump from poor competition Jr year to no competition sr year to starting qb of notre dame is really stark.
Nate Montana?
Are we sure about that? His 2019 season yielded 8.0 yards/attempt and 11.5 yards per completion. Those numbers are worse than Book’s 2020.
I really don't know how to feel. I like Pyne and Buchner.
On a highlight film, he looks good throwing the ball downfield. But...so would Book if you were just watching the completed ones. Can't say I watched enough to know if those yds/att numbers were due to his inefficiencies, the offenses, etc.
We should still have Austin, Wilkins, and Davis.
I thought Wilkins looked pretty good running routes when he got in. Still confused why he didn't more snaps. And then there is Austin. He should be fully ready by next August. Not a ton of returning production but they know the offense and been in the program so know the expectations.
Call me crazy, but would ND dare lock him up and still flirt with other portal QB’s? If they are down Clark I definitely wouldn’t be mad if we still kept pushing for another higher level guy. Let them all battle it out for QB1.
Davis yes but I would still put Austin and Wilkins in the category of transfer risk if the passing game is a shitshow. Snap wise they are both still inexperienced, and Austin has now spent one year learning scout team offenses and one on the injury table.

OneSorry if already posted but how many years of eligibility does he have left?
We all know that if Coan wins the job, Buchner isn't getting any development, game play wise.
