I'll throw a CB at him. I remember an article that was very pro ND when he was a sophomore I think.

Has been tearing up the camp circuits... Got Open, Rivals MVP. Add to that a lot of Western Pa action going on right now. He projects as good swing candidate although he is a guy who might be a starter down the road at tackle even though he's not the typical elite height ND has been landing.

Plus he's only gonna get better this season working at LT at the daily All American Camp & Combine that is IMG.

If he is in fact Irish... I'd have had the oldest correct CB (3-21-16) on the 247 board. First!

BOOM!

Freebie from 247/Loy:

BREAKING: Top100 OL Robert Hainsey commits to Notre Dame

The 6-5, 280-pounder chose Notre Dame over the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Miami, Ohio State and many others.

“With Notre Dame, I think it’s about what they can do for me overall,” said Hainsey. “Between football and everything else academically. It’s a combination of all factors. It was too hard to pass up.”

Offensive line coach Harry Hiestand played a major role in Hainsey’s decision to be Irish. Their time together made quite the impact on the Top100 talent.

“I just like the way he coaches,” said Hainsey of Hiestand. “He knows exactly what he wants in a player. He develops talent really well. With him, I’ll have a great chance to be one of those guys hopefully, if all goes well, a future first rounder.”

Hainsey first made it to campus with his father and then returned to South Bend in June with his mother. Not only was Hainsey happy with his decision, but his parents were as well.

“They were really excited,” said Hainsey of his parents reaction. “Everyone I told was excited for me. My parents were really proud. They were happy I made a decision I was comfortable with. They were extremely happy about it all.”

Hainsey is all about relationships. It’s no surprise he ended up at Notre Dame, which happens to be the school with the recruits and commits he is most comfortable with. Originally from the Pittsburgh, Pa., area, Hainsey knows the three 2017 commits from Western Pennsylvania — David Adams, Joshua Lugg and Kurt Hinish.

“I talked to a lot of them,” said Hainsey. “I talk to Josh the most. I told him about my decision first. He was excited for me. He and I are starting to build a good friendship. We stay in touch often. Hopefully we, and the other commits too, can all head up to South Bend soon and keep building a better relationship. We all have the same goals and the same mindset, which makes us all close.”

So, is this decision a final one for Hainsey? Will he talk to any other schools? Take any other visits?

“I’m completely done,” said Hainsey.

Hainsey will arrive at Notre Dame a year from now, fully prepared to get to work. That blue collar mentality will be something Fighting Irish fans appreciate.

“Notre Dame fans can expect someone who will work extremely hard and do the best for my team,” said Hainsey. “I want to win a title and be the best player I can be.”

Hainsey moves ND up to the #7 overall class and over a .90 Comp team average. Very nice.

He's more of a power run blocker like Q Nelson than a finesse player right?

Physically, maybe the second coming of Zack Martin. Will be interested to see if his coach Kevin Wright ever makes the comparison. Wright was at Carmel HS when the Martins were coming through Bishop Chatard. Hainsey is listed at 6-5, 275. Martin was listed at 6-5, 270 by the services coming out of HS.

The difference is there's enough talent to keep Hainsey inside for his career at ND whereas Zack had to play tackle out of need before becoming an All-Pro guard in Sundays.

It will be interesting to see how and where he develops.

No, he's being singled out for his athleticism, footwork, smarts and being a tactician. Sorta the opposite of the road grader guard prospect
