So he scratched his combine results. Meaning he was either banged up or didn't run well and asked for his #s to be removed.
Wilfong on if CJ should be ranked higher than 3-star, ~500 overall:
"I'm comfortable with our rating of CJ. Maybe he's a four-star but he scratched all his marks today. We don't have verified athleticism on him. He looks fast, perhaps he'll be a top performer but right now I like him where he's at."
Can't rate him because he won't test at a camp only a handful of people get to go to. Guess they might as well delete the rest of their rankings where they can't "verify athleticism."
They're not deleting his ranking, they're just not moving it. Why would they when he hasn't done anything since the last time they gave him a ranking? Wilfong said he'll get his chance if he participates in 7 on 7s.
And he did test, he just didn't want his numbers published. His Dad told Wilfong he ran a 4.6 apparently.

This has been his response to basically all questions about all prospects. Towing the company line. He has no mind of his own anymore, and if he does, he doesn't actually voice it. Or at least very rarely.
He should be a 4 star top 250 player based on tape, showing out at previous Nike camp, hearsay from Rivals camp, watching him at II, etc.
With that said, I don't really care. He's a boss and an exceptional talent. Can't wait till he balls out in South Bend.

He dropped a pass at The Opening. TheChosen1 seems to have taken that as meaning he has questionable catching skills.
It was an issue coming in to the camp and he's had numerous drops at the camp including a game winning touchdown. It's simply more than "a dropped pass" as you are implying.
Well it sounds like he is having a rough week. Maybe choking under the big lights. Because In his highlight tape and evals I read he had good hands.
Anyway this might help my cause as having him be a stud SS.

I agree. That's what I said earlier. I like this kid at safety.
But I'll take him and argue about it later.

Geez, even an NFL receiver doesn't catch every ball thrown at him, even when it's on the money.
Give me examples of receivers that caught every single ball thrown their way, even if it hit them in the hands. Fuller could be sketchy at times but his skills produced far more good than bad the last two seasons. Give Holmes a chance. Taking one example and saying he isn't that good is no different than watching a recruit's highlight film and saying he will be a star. JMO
Last year, Jamison Crowder had the highest catch percentage among NFL wide receivers at around 75%. That means if he was thrown passes that were able to be caught, he basically missed one for every three that he caught. I can understand having high expectations but good luck finding a perfect football player at any position. If there was such a thing, you would see a QB that never threw an incompletion or interception, A RB that never fumbled or gained less than four yards a carry. You would have defenders that would never miss a tackle or have a "sure thing" interception bounce off their hands.
Anyway, I'm just saying give the young man a chance since he hasn't even suited up for a game yet.
