I saw some guys put in some CB's for Arizona when he decommitted.

I also saw this. Strange considering he told reporters flat-out that ND leads and gave a bunch of solid, though-out reasoning for that lean. The USC battle thing is concerning to me though as he's from SoCal and (I HATE to say it but) I think USC may be better this year than they have been in recent years. A victory at USC this year would really help and I think/hope we get it. Couldn't be more excited about this season. Couldn't be more excited about our recruiting scene.

Any rationale? Also, can you remind me who those 2 are?

They're staff at ISD. They said it's a gut feeling based on convos they've had with him. ISD has been all over the map with NDs chances with Echols in recent weeks.

Over at ISD this week, they did say something along the lines of "ND having to check in on some things." I'm not really sure what that entails but it was strange.

Among other things, if tOSU decides they have room and offers, that would create a big obstacle as well.

The longer this goes on the less I like ND's chances

Disagree. He has a set timetable, and we have our coaches and commits in his ear. Regardless of how long this goes, ND's chances are very good.

I think the confusion was during Power Hour. Mike Frank stated he was optimistic versus his previous position of pessimistic. Which my guess means Echols going public and announcing his decommitment from UCLA.

The other part of it is that there is much more work to be done than simply having him decommit.

If ISD has doubts you can take it to the bank that he probably isn't coming then

Well this disappoints me after he said ND is on top. Still hope we get him and I'm not gonna get too excited/upset about thing till NSD.

Why would the kid jump back in right now?

I must admit I am reveling in Mora's recruiting morass!

Have you ever seen a kid you can go either way on more than Hunter?

I am still optimistic about this. If his intent is to announce in January (so he says and he could pop before then), I have no worries.

Why would he all of a sudden decommit and per ISD not think about ND (when he has been pro ND in articles posted in this thread)?

I'll give my percentage on him committing to ND: 90%.

In an interview with a U Washington site, he gushed about UDub and Coach Peterson. He also mentioned USC and Arizona (where he has friends) in the article with no mention of ND.

So I'm in the camp of he likes to sell himself to journalist like he is interviewing for a job, playing the recruiting game, enjoying the love, and trying to keep everyone happy. My optimism is down from earlier, but still feel ND leads. I think it will be a decision of his head (an ND degree and long term life) versus his heart and body (West Coast, fun, friends, and comfort - most likely USC or UW). He seems smart enough to minimize the value of a Zona degree and network.

Have all of these west coast schools been recruiting him as hard as ND or are they now going after him since he's decommited from UCLA?
