As if not landing this kid doesn't suck enough, we have to face him game 1 next season. Salt meet around.

Although I like him as a prospect and want him here, I don't think he will have much bearing on the game next year. He will be a true freshman playing his first collegiate game, if Texas rolls him out there as a starter I hope we run the ball at him all game. I like him but he isn't physically ready to handle Big Mike and others going right at him right now.

Not the point.

So on a side note, this kid and Malik Jefferson.....Fuuuuuck.

Jefferson was nasty this year as a true freshman. He's the next Jaylon Smith without a doubt. That has to be enticing to McCullough.

Unless one of them can play QB it won't help Texas much this year.

Yea. Those two would be nasty and Jefferson is a beast.

I read at Aggies's 247 that this is part of Texas's pitch. That they can create a dominating defense and win big behind these two. However, the person stating this (the Hammster) wasn't sure if it was hitting home with him or not . Meaning, maybe being "the guy" is more enticing than being the partner.

Or maybe he knows it's baloney and there are good football players at all the schools he's considering?

Yea I'm not saying it puts them into contention, but it'd be fun to watch for two years. Jefferson is special on every level. He was making plays on pure athletic ability as a freshman. Once the mental part catches up, yikes.

Totally agree. Imagine having two Jaylons on defense.

What makes that baloney though lol? It would be foolish of Texas to not pitch the fact that he will be playing alongside another freakshow.

He was officially accepted into Stanford. We will see where this leads his recruitment.

Sure, though I'm not sure McCullough is quite at Jefferson's level. My only point is that we can offer him the chance to play alongside very good football players too. And frankly a couple of defensive players aren't going to make that big a difference in the outcomes of a season. It's different than, say, recruiting a WR to play with an elite QB.

Awesome for him, wonderful accomplishment and I will never fault a player for wanting to go to Stanford.

I doubt more than a handful of schools have a Malik Jefferson on their roster and we just lost ours.

I'd say McCullough's football smarts and instinct are legitimately on the same level, the difference is very good athleticism for McCullough vs freaky athleticism for Jefferson.

Have to say, this might be the (potential) recruiting loss that bums me out the most. Seemed the most realisitic and likely. If we can't beat out the Texas schools when they're relatively down and we're relatively up, when will we beat them for this kind of talent? I'm not talking Cam McDaniel talent. I mean potential game-changing talent. If it comes down to distance and nothing more, fine, I get that. But if it's for ANY other reason, then there is just no excuse here IMO.

Not that I've counted out getting him but Hilliard last year was a big punch in the nuts too.

Ugh, yeah. He was definitely last year's heartbreaker for me as well. But to be fair, hard to blame a kid for choosing OSU over ND (from Ohio to boot). I just have a hard time accepting a kid choosing Texas over us right now UNLESS distance is the main factor. They have nothing else over us at this point in time.

OH! And did I mention, all this while we can boast the ONLY TWO HS & College Butkus winners in NCAA history, both within the last few years??!!?!!!! If all that doesn't help us land elite LBs, nothing will.

I get what you're saying about the present situation at ND vs. UT, but Texas will always be Texas

Yet Clemson moved up and down the field all night on them scoring 40 pts. If not for that 95 yard return, Clemson wins by 2.

Oh the same score they beat ND by.

That, and if Clemson isn't screwed out of 5 seconds at the end of the half, they *might* have a better chance at three points, or maybe even a shot at the endzone first. Would have changed the entire second half.

(I'm not saying Clemson wins if that happens, and I'm not trying to take anything away from what was a great game.)

I won't fault them for wanting to go to Stanford. But i'll fault them for actually going. Burn the trees.

4 Tuitt size Jaylons - then dropping DEs in coverage starts to make sense. Couple inches taller and 300+ pounds with 4.5 speed and agility like a cat.

Jaylon sized Tuitts is the worst combo out the possible four Frankendomers (assuming straightup cloning Tuitt and Jaylon are possible)
