I really don't like the aggression or piling on of IrishFanMercy or anyone else. Doesn't matter that I don't care for it, but wanted to share. We always make people out to seem way worse than they are IMO. He comes here and asks untimely and ridiculous questions. Who cares?

This is why so many people get irked with you. You give your take on something you admittedly know nothing about, and then continue to argue with people on a topic you just admitted you know nothing about. There's times in life (and on this board) where just not commenting is the better course of action.

In this case, IrishJMercy is a little prick, period. He is a sky-is-falling, make shit up as he goes along, know-nothing, lying, poster. And what's worse, he tweets at recruits and thinks he makes a difference in their recruitment, just like his boy grubl. Yes, his post in here seemed innocuous enough, but there was context to EVERYONE giving him shit. IMO, before you gave your uneducated opinion on it, you should have simple asked, "WHY is everyone piling on?" Then got some background on it, and THEN give whatever opinion you had.

EDIT: Just saw your post Lucci. But I put some time into this so I'm not deleting it yet lol.

If this is from same friends as above I feel much better that they aren't sure about much lol

Anyways both coming to ND would be awesome, but would rather have Hamlin of the two.

I was joking about Hayes.

However, what I said about Hamlin is true. Pitt got a silent a few days ago and many are hopeful that it's Hamlin.

Pitt apparently got a silent commit today that will announce sometime in the future. Some of my Pitt buddies are hopeful that it is Hamlin. Just FYI, it probably isn't him.

People who have time to tweet at recruits to think it makes a difference in their recruitment needs a damn life. LEAVE. RECRUITS. ALONE.

I was trying to explain why IrishFanMercy gets the hate from various posters.

Thanks.

People who have time to tweet at recruits to think it makes a difference in their recruitment needs a damn life. LEAVE. RECRUITS. ALONE.

Trying to interact with a high school kid is weird--whether he appreciates it or not. You just need to stay away from high school kids, especially if you aren't in high school yourself. Don't do it.

That said, I think some kids really do like getting Twitter followers, and it opens their eyes to how big a fan base they are tapping into. I also don't think that when a kid, say, posts his senior highlights, a "Hope to see you in Blue and Gold next year, Go Irish!" tweet does any harm at all. That's because, IMO, such tweets are not attempts to interact. It's more like taking a selfie with a celebrity, and some kids end up feeling flattered/supported by that kind of thing. Alize Jones comes instantly to mind.

Long story short, I've never tweeted a recruit and never will, but I actually think its pretty clear that the recruits like feeling a little bit of the celebrity treatment if it doesn't cross any lines. Unfortunately, if one school gets them 1,00 followers, and the other 20, that may make a difference in the recruitment.

What I really wonder about is why fans don't create creepy Twitter accounts in the name of other schools. A few super weird tweets from UltimateTROJANdude, for example, could really make a kid wonder if USC was a mistake.

Let's get this back to Mr. Hamlin, please.

I think Hamlin's statements about fan support eliminate Pitt, personally. I'm still rooting for PSU tonight, though!

Wiltfong thinks it's OSU/Pitt. ISD subs might correct me here but I've seen that Mike Frank and Christian think ND leads. OSU 247 writers don't think OSU has much of a chance and it's ND/Pitt. Apparently mom wants him close to home.

I agree with above that his statement about Pitt's fanbase and gameday atmosphere seem pretty straightforward.

He got hit low after catching a pass for the first down early in the 2nd quarter. He was taken to the locker room but was on the sideline with helmet in the 2nd half though he didn't play. He did start to walk better on the sidelines as the game wore on.

Edit: newspaper quoted his coach calling it " 'a hyper-extended knee' ". No word on severity or whether he will miss further games.

Rich Walsh from the CBS Pittsburgh affiliate was trying to downplay the importance of attendance to recruits and Hamlin went out of his way to shoot him down. Wouldn't think that this is a good sign for Pitt. The great thing is that Hamlin laid out his top criteria that was important to him.

But I'll say it again... Attendance is way down the list when recruits are picking a school. I wouldn't even put it in the top 10
— Rich Walsh KDKA (@RichieWalsh) December 2, 2015

He's fairly open about being unhappy with Pitts atmosphere but just this week he gave an interview where he talked about how important it is to stay home and play for his city. So, I think he's pretty torn right now.

Looking at that list of top 5 things important to him.
1. Education ND>Pitt
2. Coaches/ Teammates most likely even
3. opportunity to play early most likely even
4. Can my family see him play Pitt > ND
5. Game Atmopshere/ Campus life ND>Pitt
Chance of winning a Championship? ND>Pitt, Pitt really doesn't have a chance.

Is that what that means, or does it mean better players? Since he lumped coaches and teammates together, I was under the assumption that he was talking talent level.
