Having him in 2020 would be far better than having him in 2019 (assuming injuries don't force something). And he'd have a chance to start and showcase for the draft.

I really doubt they'd allow it. Besides you don't redshirt your #3 DE, especially since he's part of the 3rd down package.

He’s a huge part of what they want to do, especially against the run. He had 32 tackles to Okwara’s 38. So he’s quite active, he just hasn’t developed at the same level as a pass rusher. Zero chance that happens.

But on the flip side, the other perspective, you should be excited for who will come into fill those voids.

I love college football, in part, because star players are only around for a few years, and it can be sad to see talent leave, but it’s the natural flow of the game. Like life, too. Everything is fleeting.

But, furthermore, the exciting part is watching physically under-developed young man, raw in talent, high in athleticism, transform themselves from boys to men, from followers to leaders, from prospects to contributors, and potentially, to stars.

We’ve recruited particularly well these past two cycles. Let your “hate” (which is more concern and uneasiness, really) turn into optimism and excitement for those hungry to make their mark.

Foskey, Osafo-Mensah, Botelho... I’ll throw in Justin’s Ademilola and Ovie Oghoufo, too.

Well said, the future is still bright up front. Have to give BK/Elston a ton of credit recruiting a solid DE/DT pipeline. Hopefully the drop-off won't be too bad when we lose a TON of production after this fall.

The interior defensive line in 2020+ will be the strength as opposed to the Ends this year. DT will be stroooong.

I doubt Okwara would have accepted the invite, as he wouldn't have too much to prove at the Senior Bowl practices or games. Hayes would have though

IDK about that. A lot of projected mid to late first rounders are attending the senior bowl now a days. For example Aaron Donald. Okwara's production has not been great this year and he could have balled out and solidified a first round grade.

Just read that Okwara only has 1 games this year with a rushing grade above 75.0 according to PFF. That's not good, when guys like Epenesa and Chase Young live in the 90's.

He was on the PUP to start the season I believe, but was moved to the practice squad once he was able to return. The Bengals have invested a lot at the EDGE position in recent drafts, and he was the odd man out.

Bad news for the Falcons imo. Loved Kareem's time in South Bend, but he has not shown that sorta capability in the League. And the Falcons just gave up next year's first round pick in order to draft a second DE...
