Really like his tape, great ball skills, definition of an athlete. Good returner, looks good in the slot, tenacious with the ball in his hands-runs hard. Also looks good in the defensive backfield, I think he could play free safety for sure. I would love to see if he gets a little bit bigger his senior year.

he Irish coaching staff is continuing to hit their Midwest base hard in their recruitment of Julian Love. Love, DB/WR, 5-11, 175, Nazareth Academy, LaGrange Park, IL has been a lifelong Notre Dame fan, and it’s almost surreal for him now that he’s a Notre Dame recruit.
“I never really thought about playing for Notre Dame,” Love shared. “I knew I’d always be a fan, and I would always watch them when I would be at their games, but I never really necessarily thought I could be on the field playing.”
Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock’s visit brought that possibility even closer to reality.
“It’s a special thing,” Love said of being a Notre Dame recruit. “If things don’t pan out, I’ll still love the school and I’ll still love the program. But if they do work out, I’ll be so happy.”
Love’s offer list includes Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Boston College among others. While the Irish have yet to offer, Coach Denbrock has made it clear that he wants the relationship to move forward.
“He told me they wanted me to get out to the Junior Day soon,” Love reported. “He got my transcripts from my school. He told me he could see me fitting in the mold at Notre Dame.”
Love has every intention of taking the Irish up on their Junior Day offer.
“That’d be a special thing,” he said of being an Irish recruit. “I guess I’d have to analyze things more thoroughly. When I was little, I looked at the big picture like ‘I’m going to Notre Dame! I’m going to Notre Dame! Now, I have to make a decision and evaluate the whole thing.”
At the Illinois camp, he was clocked at 4.53 in the forty. College coaches have generally looked at Love as a defensive back but some are now considering him as a slot receiver as well.
“Everybody offered me at DB at first, but now schools are starting to ask me if I’m comfortable playing either position, offense or defense,” he said. “I’m comfortable playing anything really. I’ll play anything.”
Love feels blessed by the early offers but he admits to feeling some anxiety before they came. He credits Notre Dame signee Mile Boykin with helping him remain positive.
“Back when I had no offers and he had like twenty, he told me I’d be up there with him and just to be patient,” Love remembered. “I always took that personally, so I wasn’t stressing about it. I was just having fun and playing football.”
Since Love isn’t necessarily dreaming of a career in the NFL, academics will play a major role in his recruitment.
“Obviously if the opportunity is given to me, I will most definitely without hesitating,” he said. “I look for academics. I look for campus size. I don’t want a really small school. I don’t want a really big school either. I just want a family environment. I look at tradition to see where the school has been and I look at the coaching staff next to see if I could relate to the coaches.”

If we offer. Which Loy believes will happen. From the article looks like he had a good talk with Lyght that made a impression on him.

And Wiltfong said if we offer he commits on the spot.

Also him and Boykin are very close. Boykin putting work in for the irish.

He said it did't matter who offered him as long as he got an offer from ND.

Todd Lyght Makes Big Impression On 2016 Recruit

Julian Love said:
I talked to Coach Elston. He told me he's the new recruiting coordinator. We talked for a little while. He had me on speakerphone. It was him, Coach Lyght, who is the new defensive backs coach, and Coach Denbrock. We were just talking about Notre Dame and how they want me down for the Junior Day on March 21. It was great hearing how much they like me and how much they want me. It just felt really good.

He'll visit with Miles Boykin for the Syracuse game this month and then commit whenever they offer. That last bit is just paraphrasing.

A couple CB's in for Love today. Looks like a great player and everything he has said about ND is enough to sell me. Hope to see him in the class!

The best part about that interview is when Boykin was offered and had yet to commit they were talking and he as asked Boykin what are you waiting for. It isn't going to get better than ND.

Also, we're looking for length in the secondary in this class with taking smaller guys last cycle. If we do offer Love it's because they really like him (elite). Wiltfong doesn't think we need to rush an offer.

TIFWIW, there is a poster on the BGI (rivals) board that is portraying to have some info on Julian's recruitment. He said that the staff had told him that they will offer when he makes it to campus and he will commit on the spot. However, his dad is an insane Irish fan and they may want to wait until he is there in person. Maybe Junior Day.

I hope it's true. Looks like a really nice athlete, and at a position of need. The best part though is just how much he loves the Irish! Very excited to get him if that is the case.

Jake Brown's rec league season is over, so he has time for an update. Both parents will be on the visit tomorrow. Miles Boykin will also be with him.

In the Film Room: Julian Love (Premium)

ISD's Coach D continues his excellent In the Film Room series with a look at Julian Love. Worth a read if you have a sub, considering he will likely be Irish if the staff offers. While he may not have elite upside, Coach D praises his versatility as a defensive back. If the staff is indeed looking to take 5 DBs this cycle, it would be nice to have one that could play several roles as needed. Julian is that guy.

He didn't receive an offer on this trip as BK was out of town. So, he's waiting until March 21st (Junior Day) and hopes it will come then. Really enjoyed his visit. Lyght is really making an impression. All really good things and basically he's ND on March 21st if we offer.

Kind of like going to the doctor. You sign in and when your appointment time comes they take you right back to the exam room. You think ,"Great I'll be in and out on time". Then you sit in the exam room the usual and customary 15-20 minutes before the doctor sees you. You know it's going to happen, just not sure when.
