I think if Tony had been healthier during his time at ND, we would have seen more games like the bowl game. I hope he lands on an NFL roster. He's great in pass pro and is a load and can be hard to tackle

He needed a different scheme to run with. We should've made adjustments to the run game under Long much sooner if we were going to stick with Tony as the primary ball carrier. He's just not a zone/read type of back, IMO.

Agree with this and also the injury issues he had during his time.

Agree here also. We have to keep in mind he had a very devastating ankle injury in 2017 that occurred in the game against BC. He was never the same that year. Then again last year (2018) he had lower body injuries that slowed him down.

Good for Tony. I think he maximized his opportunity at Notre Dame and I hope he can spend some time in the NFL and cash some checks.

I thought TJJ had a great year. I think people weren't too excited about him because of his speed.

The issues wasn't his speed. The issues was he was being asked to run in a scheme that didn't suit his skillset. He could have been way more effective. He did a good job considering.

I think the criticisms against Quinn are not appropriate regarding the RB’s the Irish had last year.
Jones, was a solid player for the Irish, but the Athletic equivalent of an FCS running back. Jones wouldn’t even be on the traveling roster for Bama, or Georgia at RB.
And I don’t mean this to be a criticism against Jones, just an honest assessment of the skills brought to the position. As a passer blocker he was elite. As a receiver out of the backfield he was strong.

He slimmed down & gave it a try at 220... and it doesn't look good.

But he's still good in pass pro and he is good out of the backfield so get up to 235+ and grab that FB money. He's not the biggest guy but he's as big as CJ Ham from the Vikings

He should definitely try to switch and be a Roosevelt Nix type of player. He's got great hands and could be an awesome utility fullback

If these are the numbers he tested at after training hard for two months, imagine how fast he was after 9 or 10 games and completely beaten up

Our warrior was an adequate RB who worked damm hard. There were no schemes which would turn him into an elite NFL prospect. Great praise for Tony. Good for Notre Dame. Pro ball: no. Hope that he can sneak some paychecks as an OK all-around worker ... but ....

Fast enough for an important house call against USC in ‘18, and fast enough for a longer house call against ISU to close out ‘19.

He did his job!

I always liked Tony, he was physical and could house it at any time. Good luck to him.

I'm with LL (I think it was him) that said he might have been much better running in more of a power/man scheme.

Might be seeing some PT with the Saints this week with the entire RB room out due to COVID.

Ty Montgomery is the only other “RB” left on the roster.

He has been activated from the Practice squad for the game. The only other possible RB, Ty Montgomery, and Jones have combined for one carry and 28 offensive snaps this season.

Pretty impressive first drive capped by a TD for Tony. Plus supposed to be a heavy dose of Ian in the second half.

Next drive he had FOUR blitz pickups, two of them he put the blitzer on the ground, and let Winston make some nice throws leading to another score. Jonathon Vilma is really talking him up.
