Loy- Henry CB to FSU and Jawon Pass to ND

That's concerning. Loy initially CB'd Henry to FSU on 7/22, but just reaffirmed that within the last hour. He's an FSU fan who allegedly still has lots of connections to the program. But Wiltfong switched his CB from FSU to ND in early September, and hasn't changed it yet. I'll start to worry if and when that flips.

Until Wiltfong changes his CB we all should feel confident. For all the times everyone preaches about look at a recruits actions and not his words, if we did that with Malik, I would be surprised if he ends up anywhere but ND

Loy said that he'll have something shortly. For now he said that he's not 100% sure where Malik will choose but from what he's hearing its FSU. Also, Wiltfong made a weird comment today in the 2016 QB's thread. He followed up on a statement from a poster where he said that word inside the Gug is that they believe Pass in ND's system with our coaches has "heisman trophy" potential.

He said hes writing a story up about it now. He just said on the 247 board that he has switched his CB to FSU, said he isn't 100% on it just going off what some of his sources have said.

Tidbit on Henry published today:

https://notredame.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1700585

Everything continues to fall into place for Notre Dame and 2016 five-star quarterback Malik Henry. Originally expected to visit Florida State during the season, at this point that likely will not happen as several attempts have been rescheduled and then cancelled. At this point, you have to think that if he really wanted to visit Florida State before making a decision, he would have done so already, or at least would have a solid visit scheduled. So that leaves Notre Dame and UCLA, however even the Bruins aren't expecting to get Henry because of the commitment of Josh Rosen. So that leaves Notre Dame. So unless something unexpected comes up relatively soon, Henry could be Notre Dame-bound.

Sounds like typical recruitnik puffery to keep us excited after Henry picks FSU.

If Loy's "source" is Jimbo, I wouldn't put much weight in it. After all, Jimbo thinks Jameis accidentally walked out with those crab legs and didn't receive any payment for autographs.

I don't really know why any elite 2016 QB would want to come here and compete with Wimbush/Kizer/Zaire. I mean... I do.... but that's a crowded position.nthe only team I've ever seen sign QB prospects like that back-to-back-to-back-to-back is USC under Carroll.

FSU 2015 - Francois & Locksley
2014 - Cosentino
2013 - Franklin (IMO, the same as Kizer)

Pretty comparable IMO.

On Henry, he was a little disappointed that ND decided to take Wimbush and that he cooled on ND a little at that time. The staff seemed to as well. Though both sides have stayed in communication it doesn't seem as though the ND staff is wanting to lock down a QB commit at this time for 2016 and a commitment from Henry would come as a surprise to those inside the Gug.

3 CBs for FSU today, none for ND.

Loy was the first to reaffirm his CB today, followed immediately by an FSU and a UF guy. Not looking good for ND.

Whelp...

So much for starting the 2016 class with a bang.

Well shit. That's kind of surprising that we backed off...

Sucks if true. Seems to contradict all the reports that came out at the time that us taking Wimbush had no impact at all on Henry...I cant imagine it would for a kid considering UCLA with Rosen and FSU who has recruited just as well as us at the QB position in recent years. Guess we'll all know in 9 days.

Yea this will definitely throw a wrench in Wiltfong's top class thesis but it also drastically increased our 2015 class with bringing on Wimbush.

Wimbush > Henry. Interesting that the staff cooled on him. Maybe Shea/Pass? I'd prefer either over Henry but Henry is a hell if a bird in hand.

Wimbush is a step ahead of all the guys that FSU has brought in. Contrary to how well they've done recruiting overall and on the field. FSU QB recruiting has been average since Winston signed.

There's no way we're pulling a 5:s: QB out of LA or GA. Since we missed (passed?) on Henry, I think we'll either take a 3:s: project or skip on a QB in 2016 altogether.

Really disappointing.

Fair enough, but counter point would be that aside from Golson, none of those guys have really stepped foot on the field for us, so who knows who, if any will turn into a player that would stand in Henry's way. I guess I would understand more if we had a freshman QB tearing it up on the field for us right now with other depth behind him.
Zaire seems to be somebody the staff is comfortable with after EG, but even he is completely untested.

The news sucks, but that's some great intel from Loy. At least now we're not set up for disappointment.
