Likelihood of a Pyne or Clark transfer increase drastically.

Pyne's not going anywhere until he has his degree. Then it's off to Brown with 2 years of eligibility to carry on the family tradition and get that MBA.

I don’t think he has a shot to win the Heisman, but with games constantly being canceled he has a real chance to be a finalist. Gotta think Justin Fields is out, with most likely less than 7 games played. Mac Jones probably has the best stats, and it seems the media would just love to give it to Lawrence. Lawrence has notably better numbers than Ian in only 6 games vs 9.

Perhaps if ND finished as the only undefeated team, that could give him the nod.

Yeah, I appreciate the guy, but there’s a 0% chance he is a top 2 draft pick and close to 0% that he is drafted in the top 2 rounds.

Everything I’ve been hearing it’s between Bama’s QB and Florida’s QB. Wouldn’t be surprised if Book is a finalist though

Ken Dorsey made it to the 6th rd I believe. He was a winner and lacked the prototypical NFL qualities... if he keeps winning, I don't see why they wouldn't take a flier but unless he grows like 4 inches and gains some arm strength then I don't see him coming close to top 2.... he's a very good college quarterback and there ain't nothing wrong with that!

Imo, Ian is 10x's the athlete Dorsey was. Better arm and mobility.
Dorsey was very accurate and was a great distributor of the ball.

It’s official. Who is the starting QB next year? Brendon Clark or the field?

Also of note, other QBs to accept invites so far: Kyle Trask, Sam Ehlinger, Jamie Newman, and Kellen Mond.

Somehow I missed this post.
So much for the one more year hopes.

Why wouldn't he come back?
He could set insurmountable records at Notre Dame.

"Why wouldn't he come back?"

Hmmmm ... 3+ years of being b!tched at by Notre Dame "fans." A chance to end his career as a hero as he now is? Most of his incoming buddies gone? More makeshift OLine? A chance at least to make a paycheck as a back-up QB?

I forget where, but I read an article that said Book played himself into a 5-6th round pick. I honestly could see him going 3-4th if he keeps it up. Every single game he earns more praise from the media and coaches.

True, we have been tough on him, but he could be a LEGEND.
Even if they win it all this year, next year could be his Jeter retirement tour.

lol

High six figures holding a clipboard sounds pretty nice too.

Very true but my point was both lack the physical tools for any real career in the NFL but both were called winners who got the job done.

I hate how the Heisman has become who has the better stats. Look at how outstanding Book has become throughout this season and how if you remove him from the offense I'm pretty sure it would tank because he creates plays and keeps drives going. C'mon it's 2020 let's have a Notre Dame Heisman winner.

If you are give a player an award they need to be at least top 3 in their position in the stats. But I do agree with you that leadership, player awareness and other things should be factored in. But Book isn’t going to do that. Book is a good QB but he isn’t great. He is much more flexible and can make something out of nothing. But he also makes you scratch your head a fair amount.

If I were him and didn't win the NC, it's a choice of....

Go to the NFL as a JAG and coinflip at best to be on a 53 but likely a practice squad guy with a practice squad salary.... Maybe more in a perfect situation/team for him.

VS

1. Being top man on campus for another year
2. Setting more records and becoming even more part of ND history
3. Another shot at a NC
4. Another year, but with likely more talented WRs, and more matured TEs/RBs
5. Getting more free education

This year's QB class is very solid/deep. There's also a ton of QBs in the league already looking for a job bouncing around and available with more experience, and competing for backup duty. It's been a buyers market lately.

I have know clue, but if he does want to go into coaching, staying another year doesn't impact that either. Probably helps.

Alright everybody call your shot. Where and when does Book go? Assuming he comes out this year.

I say 5th round to the Bears.

My call

A) if we win the NC, he is a UDFA, and picked up by the Pats.
B) if we don't win the NC, he come back to ND.

If you even listen to the Kelly field interview after the game, he referred to Book as a great "college quarterback."

He does have that Brett Favre gunslinger in him. I just hope it doesn't come back to bite him in a big situation this year. No jinx!

https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-draft-winners-and-losers-notre-dames-ian-book-changing-narrative-of-his-pro-potential-210127635.html

An anonymous NFL scout comp'ing Book to Jeff Garcia. Didn't somebody in this thread use that comparison?

I've been telling y'all ever since Clemson, Book is gonna get drafted now and this is it for his ND career. Let's just hope he takes us to the promised land first.

He is done no matter what. He accepted a Senior Bowl invite. Book cannot come back next year, it is written in stone.

I thought nothing is written in stone until you sign an agent? Can't a player technically go through the Senior Bowl and get a draft grade before ultimately pulling the trigger? Not saying Book is definitely gone or staying, I'm just spitballin' and asking questions here.

3rd round Niners or 6th round Pats.

Late 6th or 7th, at worst UFA-to the Patriots. They need to get rid of Cam Newton.

The dude looks like a Patriots type of QB.

OTOH, the Niners REALLY need to move on from Jimmy G. That dude is SOOOOOO brittle and if there is one thing that Book DEFINITELY has in spades is the toughness factor. Plus he could be a great fit for the style of offense the Niners prefer.

I was just putting him in Montana and Brady's draft slots.
