at least he is seeing ND 2x's :)

Yeah, basically if our D can show growth and impress him again then ND has a shot. Otherwise, nope IMO.

FWIW, his dad e-mailed the Scout reporter and added several schools to their list after the article I commented on above. His dad said OVs to ND, USC, OSU and FSU. Then others considered are UCLA, BSU, Utah State and Arkansas. Other possibles are UDub, Oregon, ASU, and LSU...

If any recruit had a serious interest in Notre dame and was there Michigan night and doesn't have us as the leader I will confidently put a huge I doubt it stamp the rest of the way!

Next....

From What I am hearing. Obviously Bill Kurelic thinks Buckeyes have a shot at Porter, no surprise there, but he says there is further confirmation that he will not be making his mission trip.

FWIW, here's a quote from a recent rivals article.

"I have to get down to a top five for sure because there are a whole bunch of schools I'd like to take official visits to," he said. "I think I'm going to take all five unless one just really, really sticks out, which I'm kind of hoping happens to be honest with you. It would be great if one of my officials stand out while I'm taking my visits so I won't have to take all five."

Safe to say we weren't able to make the impact we may have wanted. I'm pretty close to throwing in the towel.

Never say never. A relationship was established with ND. As the first official visit, standards have been set.

Here's another "never". Never hold your breath for a recruit.

Porter will be at the USC game on Nov 29th, and there will be another opportunity to interact with undecided prospects who have shown interest in Notre Dame. Alabama commit Mekhi Brown showing up a second time, and with the unexpected Brendon Wimbush flip, Notre Dame coaching staff won't be giving up on any of the top prospects, Cowart included. Who says you can't turn a stinky sandwich into an ice cream cone?

Cowart is done for, Mekhi IMO needs to visit again. I wish we would have made a move with Gustin but IMO he visited to early and I just don't think we stand out like USC does. Everybody firmly believes he will take his visits and then sign with USC. They seem to be the school from the get go with him.

Per TV sources indicated that he's virtually a lock to USC. They'd have to really struggle down the stretch to not win out here. However, if that happened ND would be in a good spot.

Supposed to be at the ASU/ND game this weekend

Has scheduled his USC official for Nov 29th. Should Porter show up at Arizona State this Saturday(unofficial), he will have attended three Notre Dame games. I think Notre Dame is still very much in the contest for his commitment. For the Michigan game, Porter showed up with eight family members, spent considerable time with Kelly and Van Gorder, and went out to dinner with Trumbetti and Rochel. Present prognostications be damned. Notre Dame is still in the hunt, and Porter would make an excellent rush defensive end for the Irish.

Him and his family were on a unofficial at USC for the game and were sitting a row behind me. His family couldn't of been nicer. While his whole family, Porter included, was wearing USC stuff, his dad was wearing a blue shirt and was actively cheering for Notre Dame the entire game. Porter and the rest of the family didn't seem to be rooting one way or another. Talking to his dad he raged about Notre Dame's campus and Brian Kelly. Said he doesn't like USC because of the whole Hollywood feel to it. Also mentioned he is a Mormon and liked NDs spirituality. Porter seemed like a chill kid too but didn't talk recruiting at all.

Porter is also taking an official to USC next week as well. Not sure he ends up and ND, seems like USC is in prime position.

Porter Gustin will be a busy guy these next few weeks. Starting tonight with a home visit from LSU and Coach Pelveto, he will be on the go non-stop. Between, basketball, recruiting, the USA Today Player Of The Year Finalist Tour in NYC, and of course, the daily three hour weight room routine, Gustin will be swamped.
The Home Visits
LSU, Arizona State, Notre Dame, and Arkansas will all visit the town of Salem this week. A few coaches will attend his basketball games, while others will just be making home visits. ASU and ND are both visiting on Wednesday. On Thursday night, Arkansas' head coach Bret Bielema will make a visit to the Gustin's home. Bielema has been very active in his recruitment.
Upcoming Official Visits
The week after taking an unofficial visit to the USC/Notre Dame game, Gustin will return to LA to take an official to SC. The Trojans are one of the leaders in his recruitment. He took in the rivalry game with over 30 family members in attendance, as well. The next weekend, Gustin is making a return trip to Tempe, to check out Arizona State one more time. He was down there for an unofficial visit to see the Sun Devils take down Notre Dame last month.
The Remaining Visits
With the upcoming dead period, it looks like Gustin may have to postpone his commitment. He was originally hoping to make up his mind before going to the Army All-American Game. The stout linebacker/defensive end was hoping to check out Ohio State and also take a fifth visit, before making his final decision. That final visit is up in the air right now. LSU, Arkansas, Florida State, and Oregon all seem like legitimate possibilities. The original plan was to take all five trips before pulling the trigger and committing, as of tonight, that is still Gustin's intention.
National Player Of The Year Finalist
Gustin is one of six finalist for the USA Today High School MVP award. Directly following his USC visit, he will fly to New York for a two day "Finalist Tour". From a statistical standpoint, there may not be somebody more worthy of the honors. Gustin threw for nearly 3,000 yards, while rushing for just under 900 more. He had a total of 33 offensive touchdowns and was responsible for 70 percent of Salem Hills offense. He was even more impressive on defense, finishing with 152 tackles, 29 TFLs, 10.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions. All of this was accomplished with broken ribs and a busted wrist.
With the non-stop action these next few weeks, Gustin said there will be "no time for sleep". As long as he has time to work out, he is alright with that.

Long story short, there's no chance he's coming to South Bend after watching the Irish get manhandled...TWICE.

he actually saw ND play 3 times this year including his OV to South Bend. More than a coincidence?

When was the second time? I thought he OV'd for the UM game, which would mean he saw ND DO the manhandling.
