Loy CB to Bama.

You really take Loy's CB seriously? He does work hard gettin guys on the phone and developing a good relationships with these prospects

He at one point had Dexter Williams, Soso Jamabo, Ronald Jones, Nick Brossette and Tyson Williams all to ND at the same time.

Loy thinks this means ESB is in and will commit to ND when ready. As of last night Cager was very excited about the visit.

I think Cager and ESB are both guys who need a year or two in the weight room, but either could make a instant impact. Both are about even, rather have ESB though due to Cali and maybe being able to pull in future players? cough cough his two brothers who are going to be better.

I think I was wrong here. Both Mike Frank and Tom Loy think ND told Cager there wasn't room for him in the class. Not sure why, whether ESB told them something, they are focusing on ESB and Jones and that's it, whether it was a fit concern, IDK. But it does look like we dropped him vs. the other way around.

Thanks for the insight.

Hopefully because we have the spots tied up and focusing on defense

Yeah, I was surprised they were taking so many WRs and that was before the needs at safety became so acute.

I hope this indicates that the staff feels good about Jones and so they are putting all their eggs in that basket.

Good news, this can't really come back to bite us from a depth perspective as we have plenty of depth at WR. However, we're never at 85 so why tell him there's no room prior to him even coming on his OV. Sometimes this staff makes questionable recruiting decisions that make me go, WTF.

How elite can college coaches think he is though if all the his top 3 likely wouldn't accept a commitment from him at this time? I really like his film, but for a kid who is really highly regarded by some, it is questionable that he seems to be losing the game of musical chairs that is college football recruiting.

Scout: ND told Cager they believe they have another guy on board and canceled.

Meaning that ESB must have said he is coming or to save a spot for me? Because I think if Alize Jones says yes we would still push hard for Cager or ESB to land at least one..

has to be ESB. Aliz'e would not have removed his spot as we were going 1 te 1 wr, but not 2 wr.

Is ESB annoucning at an AA game?

Still don't see the harm in letting him visit. Stupid move IMO. Tell him the visit's on, but that we are waiting on ESB/Jones.

Then at least you have a backup plan.

Staff has to feel 99.9% that they are getting ESB or Jones to tell Cage "Sorry no thanks". I'm guessing Cage now wishes he had accepted when he was offered. As for the others schools cooling, it may not be that they don't like him anymore. Maybe their rosters have filled to the point where they would rather use the scholly on another position.

Reason number 1,0000 why it's stupid to wait this process out until the end unless you're an elite, consensus 5* type. You hang around without committing anywhere and end up missing out on great opportunities.

I have a feeling that if the November Implosion didn't birth an overwhelming feeling of negativity, the reaction to this news would be nothing other than "Well the coaches must have gotten word of a commitment already, awesome!"

If there's one position I'm not worried about getting an additional player in its WR. We are loaded there and I think Boykin and Sanders can be elite and Guyton can be a solid #3. Cager or ESB would be nice but its not going to kill us if we don't get one of them IMO.

To me, Cager has a higher upside than Boykin. I've only seen highlights, but if I had to choose between Boykin, ESB and Cager, I'd take Cager. Guess the staff sees things differently.

This staff seems to have a really good eye for WRs. All of our WRs seem to do well.

I agree. This is a great exaample why over signing/gray shirting/etc should be allowed at ND. You know damn well we'll be below 85 scholarship players before the opener.

If we really did miss out on A. Jones, this would suck. I know we don't necessarily have need at the WR position, but this would have given us 2 guys that could grow into TEs or stay at WR, and I'm not sure I see us getting to 85 by Fall.

Also sucks for Cager since it looks like most of his options are full or holding off. A lot of Wake Forest CBs rolling in, and he should be too good for that.

Exactly, and if Boykin ends up at TE since we didn't get Jones, what is the harm in Cager visiting? Unless we're unwilling to move Boykin to TE and take both ESB and Cager.
