I agree that Tillery had an immature 4th quarter, but some of you ND fans....wow.

What Tillery did was not immature. Immature is Golson pouting. Immature is talking sh*t. Tillery, a 300 pound individual, walked up to a player that had injured his head/neck, put his foot behind his head, and proceeded to push it forward. He's lucky he didn't seriously injure that kid. That is so far beyond the bounds of the game that it borders on assault, it's totally unacceptable.

The U hasn't done things like that since the 80's man.

I guess we want Notre Dame to always have soft players?

Trying to injure others isn't showing "heart". Tillery was a coward tonight. Trying to rationalize it in that way is incredibly small.

I said this is the post game thread.

You all will call me crazy. But I like that someone on the team showed emotion and frustration. Need more of that from the players.

I am looking for the same thing but I wish he would actually play nasty not kick concussed players in the head. Kid in my opinion plays soft and then does stuff like that.

I wholeheartedly agree with Greyhammer.

That was not passion. That was not heart.

That was cowardice.

And dangerous in a way that has NOTHING to do with sport.

I'm not interested in cheering for suckers who disgrace their team.

I do not think he should be booted from the team. That would be letting him get off easy. He needs to be in a special off season program...a program that will include physical activities to force him to rethink his decisions. PT him until his freaking tongue falls out.

You are crazy. I too like when someone on the team shows emotion and frustration. If Tillery is frustrated may he should get frustrated with his own teammates and not make a USC move.

Plain and simple for Tillery, Sheldon Day is gone, he will be an upperclassmen next year, and the kid needs to mature!

I actually didn't see the plays. I'll have to check them out.

Seems like he was trying to cripple an injured player.

Apologies for my previous statements. I'll hold my thoughts till I see the plays.

It was bad but the "holier than thou" attitude in this thread is exactly why ND has sucked for 25 years.

so playing like a dumbass was what we've been missing all this time?

this has nothing to do with being competitive or playing with fire, so get out of here with that "holier than thou" ish...

Didn't realize not wanting our players to kick a concussed player and step on ankles after the play is "holier than thou". I'd rather lose with class than win by being a piece of shit

I have to watch what Tillery did. And from what I have heard I'm not condoning what he did.

But, I would take a win over a lose no matter how it came about everyday of the week and twice on Sunday's.

It was straight out of the playbook of Ndamukong Suh, no exaggeration.

You keep repeating this like it makes sense but it doesn't.

"I'm not condoning what Jerry Tilley did, but I like gummy bears after putting them in the freezer. I would rather have frozen gummy bears than room temperature gummy bears everyday of the week."

Cool. Those aren't related. At all. Jerry Tillery attempting to injure a player isn't related to ND winning or losing at all... except that it cost us fifteen yards and we look like assholes on national tv.

Yes it does. The post I replied to stated they would rather lose with class than win by being a piece of shit.

Well I would rather win no matter what it takes.

I guess you and the original poster would rather lose every game with class.

I would rather lose. Having character and integrity is much more important than any sports game.

My point is that nothing about what Tillery did has any effect on whether we win or lose. Trying to rationalize it in that way is dangerous. I want ND to win. Jerry acted like a bitch tonight. Those two are unrelated.

You know who else had an edge? Taylor Lewan. He had an edge the whole time MSU stuffed his shit in. It has no effect. It's only dangerous to the other guys who are trying to play a sport.

Of course what Tillery did had no effect on the outcome of the game. The game was already in hand for USC at that point.

I agree completely unrelated.

I was making a separate comment, unrelated to the particular actions of Jerry today. That I would rather win than lose, even if there was some underhanded play.

But, the Tillery actions is complete separate from the statement above.

Did kicking the head of an player down with a head injury do anything to help ND win the game?

Did stepping on the ankle of a player on the ground do anything to help ND win the game?

You're confusing thuggery with clean, hard, aggressive play.

Nicco had a clean, hard, aggressive tackle on the shoulder of Ware. It turned into a Targeting flag when the ball carrier lower his own head resulting in helmet to helmet contact.

The rule states:
No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul.

When in question, it is a foul. There was nothin in question about Tillery's blatant, unsportsmanlike conduct. In both cases long after the whistle Tillery tired to injure a downed player.

My point is not about a rule trying to limit injuries it's about the distinct difference in Nicco making a clean, hard, aggressive play and Tillery treating a downed injured player with disdain and trying to cause additional injury. Tillery did NOTHING to promote ND winning a game. He just acted like a punk.
