Kizer might be the best pro prospect QB we've had in a long time. Some of the things he does, especially in the pocket, are just natural.

I love Kizer and think he's fantastic on and off the field. I feel the same about Zaire. I think Kizer has more pro potential but Im not sure he is a better college QB than Zaire. If we could find a way to utilize both down the road that would be ideal, I just dont know if Zaire could play another position as some have proposed and if he could not sure he could get reps at RB/slot when we will already have a lot of talented guys at both. Good problem to have I know but I would hate to see either Kizer or Zaire just riding the pine.

I can remember watching the Virginia game and saying to my wife after MZ went down.. Kizer is already better. He was throwing the ball so hard the receivers couldn't catch It and then... History to Fuller. Malik will play next year but at QB? Thats an interesting question and this spring will be Awesome

Wilbon said he thinks Kizer's the best QB in the nation

idk if I'm ready to go that far, but what I will say is this: you won't find very many if any that have more natural ability than the kid. He's got size, arm strength, athleticism, smarts, clutch gene, accuracy. He's got it all.

I always said from when we recruited him forward that this kid had a very high ceiling maybe one of the highest in the country but also a very low floor. We have seen both (in spring ball and now)

I think he has to be the QB next year unless he tanks against Stanford and in the bowl game. Even then its atleast an open competition. Kizer really looks like a future first round pick honestly.

I know we haven't seen Zaire a lot but Kizer is my guy. The poise this guy has with the ability to run this offense with out the starting Tight end and running back is amazing. He has made a few bad decisions but every QB does. Not to mention how humble he is.

Is it bad that every time I see this thread update my first thought is Kizer hurt himself in practice or something? Gotta get over that.

Move Zaire to running back/slot ala Braxton Miller

I just don't think you can compare Zaire and Miller, as runners. Braxton Miller was the best tailback on the Ohio State team, for two years. They just played him at QB. Zaire is probably more comparable to Cardale Jones, as a runner. Big, strong, tough to bring down, but not a high end speed guy.

And we are going to have a ridiculous amount of talent at the Offensive skill positions next year, it looks like. CJ Prosise did not see game action as a freshman, so he could be back next year, along with Folston, Adams, and Williams. And at WR, you are going to have Fuller(maybe), Hunter, Robinson, Sanders, ESB, and maybe Justin Brent. I would love to see the coaches find a spot for Zaire, but I am just not sure where it might be. If he's willing to try, I would certainly work him out at LB and see if he has an aptitude for it. He'd only be a little bit undersized, even if he didn't put any weight on in the next 10 months.

Does Fuller coming back boost Kizer a bit in our QB competition. The chemistry they have is like soul mate level.

I know...we are way too conditioned for bad news. This kid has blown away every expectation i have had for him. Rock on!

I would love to hear you and Malik have this convo over some wings at BWW.

really wish Michigan could've snagged him somehow.

Kizer is a flat out stud. Only rs frosh, gonna be scary to see where he's at as a RS Jr.

Think he has some legit 1st round potential. Big-time talent.

Huh?

No, he said Malik has what 8 total quarters of game experience. That's false. He started and completed 2 games. That's 8 quarters. So add the start of the UVA game, 4 games he played scrub duty last year. That's more than 8 total quarters. Nowhere did he compare that to Kizer's game experience.

Hey, Bud!

Relax.

First of all we need to be talking starting experience. (Starting, playing with first teamers, leading the team, etc.)

Zaire actually has 10 1/2. Kizer has almost 30. Kizer has more starting experience than Zaire. And that will be at least 42 by the end of the regular season. With three fourth quarter comebacks. More than any other quarterback has had in a single season at ND, ever.

I think it was fair to say that anyone read that he was showing Malik's experience as limited compared to DeShone's now. I further read his overall point is that he likes Zaire, and thinks he is a great quarterback, and that ND is lucky to have him as a member of the team; but that his chances of winning back the starting job are getting fairly bleak.

All points with which I agree.

Zaire is faster than Cardale and it isn't even close. Miller is a better runner than Malik and is probably somewhat faster, but I think it'd be close, and you generally don't need crazy RB skills as a QB. Malik has more than enough speed to beat LB's in space and make first downs.

I think it does. I would think without Fuller, we would have to put more emphasis on a mobile-centric QB. Fuller coming back, IMO, makes Kizer a heavy favorite over Malik with only Wimbush having the skill set to POTENTIALLY unseat Kizer.

Malik to RB isn't that crazy of an idea, but only if we lose Prosise. Otherwise, he would just be burried behind Prosise, Folston, Adams, Williams. I wouldn't mind seeing him play an H-back type role, but can he block? Seems like that might be asking too much.

If Fuller follows through with his statements and does in fact come back, our offense for next year is just stupid good. ESB (who by all accounts is going to be special) + Fuller on the outside, Hunter in the slot, Alize Jones more refined, and a stable of competent RBs.

McGlinchey moves to LT, Bars plays RT. Nelson keeps mauling on the inside, and Mustipher or Hoge at center... and we see what happens with Elmer.

That's crazy good. Without a doubt that is championship caliber.

...and then there's the defense. :(
