Wasnt Wes Tate supposed to be better than golden tate?
Yep. That's what the word on the street was back then. He did OK at Vandy, but his brother was miles better than he was.

I don't think we even offered Wesley. But it does sound like the debate about the McCarthy brothers.
Did we offer Drue's brother yet?

Last ditch effort to keep him in the fold?
Lol, reading through the Purdue rivals board is comical. Their reasoning for holding out hope is that they suck so f'ing bad that Drue will be an immediate impact player for them or he could be on ND's scout team for years. Love it.

That's not how I remember it. I'm sure some might have thought that, as some always do, but we certainly weren't pursuing him hard.
The idea that he was a better athlete than Golden is honestly laughable. There simply aren't athletes who are miles better than Golden Tate. If he was even a little more talented he would have been a top5-10 prospect. If someone promised me that Jaylon Smith had a little brother who was a better athlete, I'd role my eyes.
I agree it is laughable. I was saying that Golden was miles better than Wes. I only brought this up because there was debate about it back when we were recruiting Golden, not because I was in the Wes is a better athlete camp. Indeed, I was very high on Golden Tate before ND ever offered him.
That makes sense. I was just clarifying that it was probably not the prevailing view, considering we didn't recruit him hard.
OT: The Jimmy Clausen, Golden Tate, Michael FLoyd, Kyle Rudolph contingency was wasted because of ND's crappy defense. If they were playing with last year's defense, we could have won the NC.
I am not sure if people realize just how good Golden was in college. He was like a man among boys when he was motivated. Excellent speed, incredible hands, incredible balance, much stronger than he looked. That guy was a pure stud. He never fully invested, but the talent was unmistakable.

what's the scoop from tunnel vision for us peasants???
“@Jake_Brown: Drue Tranquill’s season over. RT @angdicarlowndu: FINAL: Carmel beats Carroll 38-7.”
Decision time
A source close the team compared him to Zeke Motta.
They got handled easily. I would suspect he will give it a few days for the sting to wear off before he makes an announcement.
In FW Carroll's defense, Carmel is good as hell and will probably beat the #1 team in the state (Penn) next Friday. Man, I wish that game was at Penn. It will be a great one to watch
Carmel is a powerhouse themselves. A school that big is always going to have talented teams.
I live in Indy and know about Carmel. I was just pointing out that they got handled. Now let's hope he doesn't use the Pitt game against us in his decision! lol
Purdue has a 7 game losing streak going.

not only a 7 game losing streak, but they have been pummeled in the process.

True, but those loses were expected, ours wasn't. We all know the toll it takes as fans when you lose one you thought you shoulda won as opposed to how it feels losing one you knew you may
People in Iowa were getting tickets off stubhub for $0.25, no joke.
