Yeah, you definitely have a good point though. Rabasa and Utupo were both failures as DE-to-ILB converts. I've yet to see that particular switch work. Randolph or Thomas may be the one to prove it can be done.

I think that the switch all depends on what kind of DE they were. Randolph was a man among boys so they just started him closer to the QB. Rabassa and Utoppo were more like true DLinemen.

Shembo was the #7 ILB, I had forgotten that!

i can't wait to see Ishaq this year though. a lot of kids dont even touch the field til they are juniors. two years of experience and getting back to his hand in the ground more should be fun to watch

I agree...and I think that he'll see a fair amount of action his way as teams avoid running in Tuitt's direction. It's Ishaq's time to shine and I think he's up for it.

My oldest son was a magnificent running back, he could run, around, over or through. I mean he was a beach. On defense he was too good of an athlete to waste. Big as they came size wise, lost a few pounds to make the weight limit in his early years, but had the best reaction time and lateral movement on the team. They wanted him in the middle. Would have been Ironman. Problem was he couldn't play linebacker. He could play defensive end. He was almost always unstopped by the tackle. He just wreaked havoc. But something about having to play off, make reads etc, just didn't work. Coming in one direction from defensive end, welcome to a ride on the pain train! My son was much more pronounced about it, but I think Ishaq suffers from a small dose. We will see if they work him into the lineup at end and he has more success. Some guys just cannot play lb!

Holy Cow, after watching those three reps especially the rep vs Mama, I would leave this young man at DE. He is incredibly explosive and strong at the point of impact. He looked Clowney-esque.

Per TJ he's a DE prospect (best suited for a 4-3) that would start out initially as a CAT.

Similar to Blankenship. I really like this kid and Blankenship. Interesting they'd offer him after Blankenship, that would mean they are prepared to take 4 DEs, the fourth likely being Solomon Thomas or Chad Thomas

I don't mind taking a "4-3" DE if they are 6'5". Those last 20 lbs can get spread out pretty easily.

I would have to say DE Chad Thomas. This is a class that is heavy with good run-stoppers along the defensive front but isn't quite what we have seen in the past from a pure pass rush standpoint. Thomas was the most explosive and fluid edge player in attendance at this event. His length, long arms, sudden first step and flexibility allowed him to consistently win one-on-one battles even against some the nation's best offensive lineman. The best part about Thomas is that his best football is ahead of him. His frame allows for a high ceiling for development as he is very light right now, which is one of his few weaknesses when playing the run or anchoring at the point of attack. That will all change once he hits a college weight program and blossoms physically.

He started to get some interest from a lot of big programs outside of Florida...suprised he just decide what he wanted was Miami so suddenly.

Seems like an average 4 star guy that they are expected to land. Booker T is one of their primary feeder schools.

They land this type of recruit year in and year out, and mediocrity prevails.

Not worried about Miami.

He handled about every o-lineman at the opening. Absolutely blew Mama up on one rep and he still has a lot of developing to do.

I agree though, he may be a problem but I think we will have the solution.
