Sherm are you trolling today or what? Gary nova, yuri wright, Darius Hamilton, jabrill peppers, leontee Carroo, Elijah Shumate another stud RB in a couple years. Not to mention Muhammad this year.
That's what I'm trying to say...There has been a lot of talent in recent years, but the sophomore and Junior class at Don Bosco is not where it has been in recent years.

He did say the younger talent. Yuri and Elijah are gone and Muhammad is a senior.

I believe even Ironman stated that Bosco is down.

Staff would and I hope take him under the best available. Would love to start plunking kids out of bosco and New Jersey more. I think we currently lead with Rutgers.

Need Rutgers to start losing, all while we keep winning.

They lost a couple kids to transfer, with the most notable being Peppers. They will reload eventually, I am sure, but right now they don't have the elite talent they have had throughout the decade. Their offense is terrible.

That's what I was trying to tell GB.

Your right sherm I jumped the gun my fault. Bosco is still bosco they still get some best talent in jersey

Actually recently a lot of their talent has come from NY, not NJ. Bosco is right on the border so they pull from both states.

Question Does Toal not let these players commit until after the season?

I'm sure they could commit (I think Carro committed to Rutgers earlier on last year), but during the season he makes sure each player is fully committed to the team.

So what? There's a lot more that goes into it than having similar height and weight coming out of HS.

Different people different body types KLM had a frame that could add a ton of weight without losing much of his explosiveness that doesn't mean that a player of similar height and weight at the same age can.

KLM is a helluva player but athletically he's not even close AM.

KLM and AM are so vastly different even though there height and weight and HS position was the same there final year of HS.

IMO Muhammad is maxed out at about 260 with elite freakish athleticism and if you bulk him up to that 280-300 lbs of a 3-4 DE your sacrificing his best natural asset.

I agree with you. Muhammad is freakishly quick and agile for his size, and has really solid ball skills. He is not a space eater. Would love for him to be recruited as our CAT and play a role similar to Ishaq. Really want this kid to be Irish.

His natural talents would be wasted as 3-4 DE, IMO.

A certain former player, who shall remain unnamed, was pretty productive at DE weighing about 260-265. You don't have to weigh 300 pounds to play DE. Quickness can make up for a lack of size.

How about we just get him signed and sort it out over practice? Who's with me?

explain yourself then cause your logic make no sense to me.

All I see is a simplistic argument that ND needs more DL in this class and that KLM and Kona packed on the lbs to become part of the DL and so could Muhammad because he is about the same height ans weight they were coming out of HS.

That's all it seem to take into account from what you've posted.

Using that logic let's make Jaylon Smith a NG, because after all he's only an inch shorter and the same weight as Kona was when he came out of HS and by doing this ND will have a super awesome athletic NG. The best part is it can be done because well Kona did it, right? He went from 215 to 290.

I'd love to have Alquadin no matter where he played, but I do think DE is a bigger need than OLB. If he were to play OLB couldn't we just move Doug inside or Danny to TE?

same here but the point is that he's a pass rusher and in the 3-4 the primary rushers are the LB's and that's his skill set and that is where he is best suited to play.

So why recruit pass rusher to put him in a position that size and strength are more important than speed and agility especially when that players speed and agility is special and freakish and better utilized at another position?

It makes no sense to me at all to waste a pass rushing talent like Muhammad as a 3-4 DE. If 3-4 DE is needed then recruit someone that has the skill set to play the position.

I do think we should go after more DEs but I think many on this board look to AM to fill that role because he seems to be the last big target on our board that could fit into that position.

I agree that ND does need another DE in this class but because in the recruiting database he's listed as a DE doesn't mean he's a DE in a 3-4 defense.

The point I've been trying to make is that he's a pass rusher an out and out pass rusher that's the primary function of what 3-4 DE is about whereas it is for the CAT OLB position.

You can't go by databases because they are based off the 4-3 hence why we've seen ND OLB recruits listed as DE on the databases and the ILB sometimes as OLB.

Why don't we just go after him and try land him than find the best position for him in fall camp?

+100. I want him and don't care what he plays. Make Mattingly a TE, make Randolph a DE, whatever. Muhammad has scary athleticism and I'm sure we'd figure out how to use him along with our other commits.

This is the type of kid that we find a way to get if he wants us. He's too good not to. Let's worry about getting his commitment and then we'll figure out the details later.
