LOL. No, not if Vandy offered. Same requirements, or at least so I've heard.

Well everything I've read everywhere has said there was an academic concern. Just because he has a Vandy "offer" doesn't mean he's qualified; see Anthony Standifer last year. *shrug*

He shows as a UGA lean on 247 I think. OSU second.

Gotta protect the back yard. And his HS needs to be an Irish feeder.

Just want to point out, based on what I've heard, that his HS is part of the problem. Sheldon Day was an exception. Kids from Warren Central have apparently had a nightmare of a time, historically, getting through admissions.

What was said before was that he doesn't meet the measurable requirements the staff wants for an inside linebacker in this class.

Whatevs... I would be psyched to have him.

I really don't think that its his grades.

Yep, saw the dumb as a stump quote, and other comments. Just figured a conditional offer at least is in order for stud in your backyard. Perkins, but not this guy? We need to save this kid from demons :)

Per Driskell 2/7/12:

If Notre Dame is looking for measureables than Tim Kimbrough will likely not be a player the Irish staff is high on. If the Notre Dame staff is looking for athletic, physical, and highly productive football players that can make plays they should be all over this in-state standout.

Go back to posts #39 and #40 of this thread.... to be honest, I don't have a clue.... I'm not from Indianapolis nor do I know anyone remotely near his situation... just relaying what I read earlier in this thread and elsewhere.

You mean the post where someone says that "we may be waiting for test scores"? That's not exactly a smoking gun for his grades being bad. Recruitniks all think its a measurables thing just like other studs we have passed on under Kelly. This staff is big on measurables for some reason.

I guess I am touchy with the grades thing when I found out from my scUM friend that it is their "dodged a bullet" joke about ND. He pretty much said that any time we pass on a player or don't get a kid we always resort to their grades. It's easy for us to say because its something that cant be proved or disproved. While I don't think that he understands the full scope of what it takes for a kid to get into ND, he does have a point to an extent.

Not just those posts, saying that's where it starts... and then continues throughout the thread for the next couple pages. I've read similar posts everywhere I subscribe. Here's post #75:

Keep in mind that Warren Central has a tendency to have student athletes that can't make it past admissions here. Not trying to call out Tim here because I really don't know, but I believe Sheldon was the first guy in a while we were able to accept from Warren Central.

The bottom line is it's speculation, just how the measureables thing is also pure speculation. Neither can be confirmed nor denied... and maybe it's even a combo.

Also, FWIW, James Ross was all of 5'9" and we offered/recruited him last year. So I don't really buy that it must be measureables.

I haven't read anything that wasn't pure speculation from posters on these boards. Everything I have read by the recruiting nerds pointed to the measurables. I think it is more likely that there just isn't any interest from him (he has been on campus) than he doesn't have the grades.

I can't confirm anything and am just going on what I read. But the "grades" argument really does seem to be turning into our first defense on why we aren't in it with certain prospects. In this case, there is nothing but speculation to base it on. Especially considering we land one or two kids with GPA's in the mid 2's dang near every year.

Either way, he isn't coming here, and who knows why really.

OK sure... but let's back up a bit. We're not talking about him wanting to come here; we're talking about him not having an offer. We offer kids all the time who don't have interest in coming here... for instance, a guy like Reuben Foster.

OK, come on man... the part I bolded is kinda BS. If that's true, name me recruits in this class where that has been said remotely definitively by any reputable poster and link me the posts. It simply hasn't happened. Sometimes is does happen... like when we told Byron Marshall not to visit, or couldn't get in Anthony Standifer, or Tee didn't have the ACT score.... frankly, you're making sound as if "grades" is only used as some sort of punchline when in fact academics does cause issues. In all cases where someone names "grades," there is always 100% a reason for it. In this case, it came up because of the historic issue with Warren Central and people openly wondering why he wouldn't have an offer.

Could it be measureables? Absolutely. Could it be grades? Sure. Could it be a bit of both? Definitely. But those recruitniks are just hypothesizing no better than anyone else... and you know sure as hell no one is going to recklessly throw out "grades" as a theory without something completely concrete to point to... it would get them fired or, at best, they'd stop getting interviews.

In terms of Warren Central.... I'm from Indy, went to Roncalli HS (4A powerhouse), and a friend of the family was the head coach at Ben Davis (5A powerhouse as is WC). Crazy good football team (WC), but academics were a joke in the 80s and 90s. Don't know about them now, but I can tell you all my friends in that area now, send their kids somewhere else....

Seeing the comment about Ross's measureables, creates even more of a mystery. One would think if it were grades, perhaps he would have received a conditional offer. Or, could just be a combo of both. Anyway, too bad about the backyard...

Can someone ask Day? ;-)

I would love to get this kid! I am unsure what the hold up has been but I trust the staff's position on him and am sure if he is a candidate for a scholly that the staff is playing it smart.

Welp, Terry beat me to the punch. Not surprising, he's a fast man and moves with a vengeance.

OSU hasn't offered Kimbrough either, so in all likleyhood he isn't being offered here. Kids good, but needs to try harder in school.

Really is a shame, got a kid in your backyard that I think will be successful somewhere, I guess that it wasn't meant to be here.
