I'm not saying EV will start over Nix. No chance. Not even sure they're the same position. Marvin Williams was far and away North Carolina's best player when they wont their championship, but he came off of the bench.
But I wouldn't be surprised if EV is making more plays than Nix, even this year. It's likely that Nix is the better player throughout the year, but it wouldn't surprise me if EV becomes a monster. This kid is a specimen. He's already 300+ and it's a much leaner 300 than Nix. I'm not hating on Nix AT ALL. I think he'll get drafted mid to late 1st round. Last week when Bogs was going pro-ND crazy over on the thread that I can't currently think of, I said that Nix was the only elite DL we had besides Tuitt. I just think that highly of EV.
Check this cat out. I know this is against other HS-ers, out of pads and even game play. But he's going against elite prospect and no one can even come close. Whatever he hits, he destroys.

But I do want to get back to my prediction, that by the time the smoke settles, we will have eight considered elite at down three plus CAT.
I still see EV staying outside more. He could be an "option-killer," with his unbelievable lateral movement; (please note that in the bowl games his lateral movement was better than a whole lot of guys I saw, with the only exception being Jaylon Smith, and many of those guys were 0.2 to 0.3 seconds faster in a forty [to give us something to pin it on].)

My girlfriend would love you. But as for me, I do not understand you, lol. Went to a Shakespear play, it was 'King Leir'. I've never read Shakespear besides what I was forced to in high school, and didn't read King Leir or have any idea what to expect. I can humbly say I didn't really understand the play; it made me feel dumb.

You are comparing the best NG in the country with a guy who never played a snap in College.
That vid against local kids is great, yes, but he also lost a lot of battles in the Opening and in the AAAG practices against better competition.

Just my guess, but I think the coaches line up EV like they did Day last season. He won't be needed as an every down DL just yet. Instead of bombarding him with all the details of the defense, I think they'll just line him up and tell him to go make plays. Keeping it simple early on will allow the big fella to just play football. I think he's going to be way too good to keep off the field. I look for him to get significant reps on obvious passing downs at the DE position. In the future, however, I have a hard time seeing him anywhere else besides DT.

Rotation wise on the DL this year we are down to Jones (Day), Tuitt, (Houshell - injured), Nix, Springman, Schwenke, Stockton......
That looks an little thin now. In August we will then have Matuska, Rochelle, and Vanderdoes.
I like what I see. Wasn't Springmann the back up nose -tackle last year?
I could see Vanderdoes getting reps at DE this year but not so much at NT with Nix and Springmann. Maybe on 3rd and long.... possibly.....
