Without a doubt, the two best NFL backs in my lifetime have been Sanders Sr. and Walter Payton. (I am 46.) It is a shame that Sanders Sr. never got in a Super Bowl.

Without a doubt????!!!!???? Your leaving out some HOF backs that actually won Super Bowls. Sweetness and Barry were awesome backs, I'll go with you on BS being the best back ever, but I can't put WP in the 2 hole. I'm 48, so we're in the same era.

I might i have to go see him play one of these days, he is 2 hours away so kind of far just to watch a game. But i might make a weekend out of it and see what Oklahoma City has to offer.

Cowboy lock?

Some were saying something similar about Anthony Barr early in his recruitment... how'd that work out for us? Win games and we can get into the picture with BS Jr.

I dont pay much mind to these highlight reels but that was IMPRESSIVE. Lets talk to Dad about the value of a good education and being close to Detroti for visits.

I love ya Ling... but I don't make many overarching statements of fact. But he goes NO WHERE else.

I think.

Maybe the staff will be able to get him to visit Notre Dame. We have seen in the past that once ND gets a player to visit they have a very good chance of landing them.

Its really early right now to speculate but for us to even be on his radar is a good thing. Education has to play a factor because I dont see and other tie in with this university. Oklahoma State is about to face a couple rough years so maybe that will also play a factor. We start showing up on the field and winning games and we will be just as much on Barry's radar as we will be alot of other elite athletes. Lets face it, we are coming off a very disapointing 6-6 season and we are doing a very good job recruiting this year. You cant tell me that when recruits see that winning has followed BK into South Bend, they will not be interested in being a part of it.

I loved his quote in the article:

“Anyone can be a player on the field and what you do off of the field has a lot to do with what you are going to do on the field.”

You guys sure this isn't Brian Kelly Jr. ?

No insider access...Who are his 3 early favorites?

ESPN: Barry Sanders, son of NFL Legend, has three early favorites

As a huge fan of his father, I would be smitten with excitement if he comes to South Bend

Hopefully Barry Saunders Jr will pull a Nick Montana and try to create his own legacy, instead of following his father's footsteps.

Not that there's anything wrong with OKSt. I'm just being selfish, because I honestly think Jr, could be as good or maybe even better than Senior.... Kinda like Griffey Jr.... But we'll see.

I'd be careful with going that far this early. I mean I think he certainly has good potential, and I would be beyond ecstatic if he chose here. But I don't think, based on a couple of sophomore highlight videos, that you can even come close to saying he could be as good as his dad. We just don't know - and it's not fair to the kid to put that kind of expectation on him. Hopefully he'll be great - I'm just not sure you can be better than Pops was.

I was just being optimistic. I understand where you are coming from, because it's extremely difficult to trump your father... Especially, when he happens to be perhaps the best running back ever.

Either way. If Junior would commit to ND, my head would literally explode.

Getting Sanders would would be our biggest recruiting coup since Manti. His film is insane. He will be a superstar at whichever school he chooses.

His father was well thought out in everything he did. I think he will tell him to follow his heart and lead him towards whatever school is best for him.

The most exciting thing for me is that I dont see USC, Florida, Michigan, Miami, Texas, or Alabama in his top 3. It doesnt mean that they cant make a push and get into his top 3 but its encouraging at the moment.

He has to be drooling at the prospects of running for Nick Saban at Alabama now that he's seen how great Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson have turned out.

We have about a .000013% chance of landing him. His highlight reel is incredible, but we won't land him.

I'm waiting for Jimmy Clausen Jr. to come along sometime in the next 30 years.

Hell, how about Golden Tate IV? Each Golden has become progressively better at football. Golden's dad was a D-II stud who eventually found a backup role in the NFL. Tate the IV should be just about the greatest player to ever put on a football uniform.

Flying to NY to watch ND play Navy and says he will make it onto campus in the future. I'd put our chances a little higher.

Kid put up sick numbers last Friday. 313 yards 5 TDs 13 carries!

Would love to get this kid although I don't see it likely. BUT...., there is plenty of time to work on it and who knows..., we get him to South Bend for a visit and anything is possible.

We need to get Barry Senior to campus with him...That's the way to get him. Get the parents...sell them both on the value of the ND degree...

I saw the article on Rivals

"It might be awhile before Barry Sanders Jr. sets foot in South Bend but that's not keeping him from watching Notre Dame in person. The running back from Oklahoma City will attend the Irish game against Navy."
