I agree. Darby's disposition is now making a turn back to common sense. We are the answer to his prayers and F$U is the devil

Darby needs to realize that here, he would be a legend. (Or could be) If he goes to Free Shoes University, he becomes just another guy in a long list of athletic freaks. He could become our next Rocket. I know I'm biased here, but I really truly believe this. He could literally come in and make a significant impact right away in a 2 deep at corner or in the return game. This is the exact type of guy we need to become an actual player in the BCS year in and year out.

This was a post on the Auburn board that has sparked some interest, I am not saying this is concrete, but at the very least, it will create some discussion:

"Take this for what it's worth, I'm not sure that I even know what to make of it, but here goes: Last night at some American bar in Rome (Italy not Georgia), I ran into a group of students from Notre Dame. Pretty quickly the conversation turned to football, and then to recruiting. Aparently one of the guys that I was talking to worked for the athletic department as a host of sorts and also a moderator for the Notre Dame Rivals chatboard. He claimed that there was a 100% chance that Arik signed with Auburn. He said that Armond may or may not, but that Arik is for sure coming here even if they have to split up. I obviously have no way to verify this, but the guy seemed to have no reason to lie. So I guess at this point, I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic.

By the way, he also said there is no way we are getting Darby. Notre Dame did something to **** him off, and he wants them to know that, but ultimately he's not going anywhere else."

Just before anyone gets confused with the last sentence, it is basically saying Darby is going to ND...

If I had a choice between Darby and the Armsteads, I would pick Darby simply because of position need. If Arik was willing to play some OL, then I think the Armsteads are the better deal.

Ok, so we pissed Darby off and he is just letting us know but ultimately is still coming to ND?

If this guy knew that Arik signed with Armsteasd 100%, the ND coaches know that as well. And if they knew that, why would they send Denbrock out last night?

Rumor busted.

Going to call BS on that. Darby hasn't had much contact with ND since decommitting. The in-home visit has not been set up. I'm not optimistic that we even get a last shot. We'll see.

So this ND insider has knowledge that Arik Armstead is 100% set on Auburn (you said signed but I don't know if he can sign already) but the ND coaching staff doesn't know this? Doesn't add up.

Gus Armstead was quoted in the free article from this morning saying that if ND was out of it, that Arik wouldn't have wasted Denbrock's time:

While Arik granted every school’s request for an in-home visit, the family has a great deal of respect for Denbrock and if the Irish were out of the mix, Arik would have been upfront with him and told him so.

“Obviously he’s interested in Notre Dame or he wouldn’t have been in touch with them as much,” Guss said. “It’s just a process.

Yep, he had an update that he had a few things he had to get verified before he can report them in regards to Darby.

I've read (probably on this site) that Darby got pissed off bc we were recruiting other cbs in addition to him and Tee. Anyway, does anyone have any idea if these updates are positive or negative?

It would be foolish to "not" recruit other cb's you can never put all your eggs in 1 basket. How many times have you seen Colleges get left at the alter on signing day? It happens quite often so i'd rather see us recruit smart then cater to 1 recruit.

I may even have posted that as it was the main rumor I heard.

That's most likely not true. It has more to do with Cooks, apparently.

If Darby had a good relationship with Cooks and tells him "I'm concerned that you are still recruiting other CB's", then Cooks would probably reply with something along the lines of "Let us know you're solid by not taking any more visits. You're our top guy, we want you wearing Blue & Gold next year, so I'll talk to Coach Kelly and we'll make sure you feel we are solid to you as well" At this point, either Darby says no or Kelly says no. Who knows at this point? If it was Darby, then I can't blame the coaches for looking. If it was our coaches, then I'll be upset for a second before remembering the work they did with Gunner, Lynch, Prestwood, Tuitt, etc. My money is that Darby wanted them to trust him to stay loyal while he went on other visits.

I just checked FSU's current recruiting class and they have zero CB commits. There might be some truth to Darby not liking the CB competition.

but they have Reid coming back, Rhodes who is a i think a soph or jr next year and the rest is a mix of sophs and jrs...nothing different than what we have if more to overcome than we do...so i very much doubt this
