Thanks Tommy for doing what you've done for the Fighting Irish the past year. You're a fine young man and a good athlete....10 times the athlete that some of the moron's on this board are that tear you up every week.

You've done yourself, your family and the University of Notre Dame proud with doing what you've done.

That said, it's time to stand down, Tommy. It's time to go another direction. Understand, this is a business, after all....

Go Irish

Never thought I'd see the day you would make this post. But I will agree Hendrix looked very promising.

This is refreshing to read HCTI. I was wondering what your take would be. Much respect to Tommy but we all saw a much bigger threat run this offense tonight.

Has nothing to do with who is the better athlete, the posters on here or Rees himself. We are fans of a team that is struggling to do much of anything offensively this second half of the season and with ZERO mobility Rees becomes a liability with a porous offensive line. Hendrix adds the simple trick of faking the run and dumping a pass, because the LBs have to respect the run, and most importantly he can run out of the bootleg if the pass isn't there. Really not sure why Kelly stuck with Rees for so long. Is Kelly a bad judge of QBs? Crist is the starter, yanked after 2 series vs USF? Rees is the starter and starts struggling. The sideline reporter asked Kelly as well and she was told that Crist is the #2 guy?!

Cave was a big loss. Since he went out, our sackless streak ended and we haven't been able to run the ball consistently. Thank God he's coming back next year.

Is Kelly a bad judge of QBs? I don't think so. Notre Dame has a lot of young QBs without too many reps. Young QBs can always make a coach look bad because they make mistakes an experienced senior would never make. It would've been interesting to see how N.D. would've done in 2010 had Jimmy Clausen stayed for his senior year.

i think this game was the "last straw" for the Tommy fans, i loved the heart he plays with, and its good to know we have an experienced qb on the bench, but he has run his course, enter Andrew Hendrix...

I think it was the last straw for Kelly to. He's had enough.

I wanted Rees over Crist, mostly because he played with more composure. As this season went by, his weaknesses have not improved (Rees). Hendrix is raw, but at this point, his scrambling ability may be able to make up for inexperience. May the best man win next season.

5,000th post. Nice job, Junkhead.

Rees seems to have plateaued this season. That may have been part of Kelly's reasoning in pulling him for Hendrix.

Well said by HCTI. Im not going to go on a coach gundy rant but Tommy comes across as a good kid and while it disapoints me when he doesnt play well some of the comments on the boards about him have bothered me. I wish him nothing but the best if he decides to stay and be a back-up and get a degree from a great college or if he feels the need to transfer to another school where he can start I hope he does well. Thank you Tommy for all the things you did for the Irish.

I said similar in another thread. Tommy to me seemed like a band aid, Kelly needed to win now and tommy did that for him for the most part. Throwing Hendrix or golson in to the wolves would have amounted to more losses, loss of fan base, loss of recruits...so yes thank you tommy, great job-hello future of ND football with a qb who can run BK's offense to full potential(whoever that may be!).

Things to remember:

(1) This is the last game of the season. I doubt Andrew was the same QB 3 months ago.

(2) Kelly was not going to burn Golson's redshirt for the last 2 games. We have no idea who is ahead between the two of them. Personally, I think Andrew is ahead physically, whereas Golson is more likely to be the man next year, though they will both get playing time.

I've always been a Crist guy. He seemed to have all the physical tools and with what I saw last year when he was healthy, he looked good.

That being said, Tommy played his heart out. The kid has guts and composure and different mental attributes that many of us on this board lack. 12-3 record as a started is skewed in my mind but tough to argue. I love the kid's heart and what he gave to Notre Dame over this last year and a half.

I would really like to see this offense hitting on all cylinders. It's going to be fun to watch.

The running ability is great, but he'll need to tighten up his throwing accuracy for him to completely effective. Has unbelievable arm strength though.

It's great to see he can throw as hard as Dayne...that was an awesome sight.
