And Tommy has no business getting credit for beating Miami so it cancels itself out.
I don't think that Tommy versus Everett is the point. The tweet that started this conversation lumped EG in with Johnny Lujack, to which I reply "cool yo jets."

Oh wow.

Ok Dillon Hall.

We get it.

Tommy Turnover is gone though.

So are you ready to move on? I am.

Last year we were anemic on offense.

As with all things a little perspective is necessary. Joe Montana had as many interceptions as he did TDs. This is a team game and we are 3-0.

Just think what his numbers could look like if our receivers were capable of catching a ball.

Yeah I'm hoping Hunter can help that out. It is crazy how average the ball skills are with Brown, Fuller, and Procise. Hell I'd start giving Brent a look too if the drops continue.

IMO, Robinson's lacking ideal speed for a WR. He can go after jump balls against anyone, but cannot separate.

Fuller's solid but so small I feel like he's going to get killed. Not strong enough to break tackles and pretty much a deep thread or catch it and go down.

Brown's just not a natural football player IMO. Great speed but he can't even seem to use that like Fuller has. Fuller needs to catch before he goes, and Brown just needs to have stronger hands. He never wins contested balls.

"While Notre Dame also opened the 2012 season with a 3-0 record, Golson looks like a much better quarterback this time around after spending his suspension working with lauded quarterback coach George Whitfield. In the first three games of his sophomore year, Golson completed 58 percent of his passes for 203.7 yards per game (7.54 yards per attempt) along with five total touchdowns. Through three games in 2014, the quarterback is completing 64.6 percent of his throws for 260 yards per game (8.13 yards per attempt). Oh, and he’s already scored 11 touchdowns, which includes six rushing scores -- two more than his entire 2012 tally." Nutty

Criticism of Golson and this years receivers is pretty unwarranted. It kind of makes me chuckle though. People criticize these kids and they have only gone out and "ripped" with better numbers than any team since the Ara or Holtz eras.

Sure there is room for improvement; that is the whole point!

What is the upside potential of this team?

I'm with you on Golson criticism. But I think it's fair to call out the WRs IMO. They haven't impressed me.

With his size, he reLly doesn't need flat line speed.

I wish BK would sit Robinson and Golson down to watch tape of Cutler and Alshon Jefferey. They make plays routinely by getting the ball out on Jefferey's cut, which allows him to beat his defender by getting to the spot first. Not by blowing by him, but by making timely adjustments to the route that put him in better position to the ball.

Alshon normally isn't very fast, but lingering injury had made him criminally slow this season, but he is still making plays by playing smart football and being on the same page with his QB.

The reason that I included the receivers too, is not because of their dashing or flawless performance.

Two things : none of these receivers have a lot of game experience; and when is the last time a Notre Dame receiver has had a quarterback with this kind of cannon?

So I think, as they breed familiarity, timing will come. And as timing comes, fine tune adjustments will be made. Golson will learn when he needs to get the ball in quickly and when he can lighten up, just a bit. Just my feeling, don't particularly know my ass from a "whole" in the ground . . .

Johnny Lujack's stats were also for a full 2 years whereas Golson's stats only included 11 games in 2012 and 3 for this year. When he has played a full 22 games let's see if his numbers are comparable. There are 8 more games to go before he gets to that mark.

Comparing the passing game to the Holtz and Parseghian eras is unwarranted and makes me chuckle. [hyperbole] Holtz threw the ball about twice a game, and that was too many for him, [/hyperbole]. There's really no comparison.
