This happens every year........for the most part kids commit to ND before signing day, rarely does anything good happen to ND on National Signing Day. And while I sound like a broken record.......these kids really do use ND. They use them b/c their parents all love ND and they want their parents to think they really value education and might go to ND. They use ND for the publicity, if you say ND is in the hunt you will get the press coverage on NSD.......you get more internet hits, you get more buzz with your name......it is sad but this has been going on for years and I really think the recruiting websites and networks are the reason. You say your interested in ND......we all EAT IT UP and have visions of sugarplums dancing in our heads.......and the websites and networks make money hand over fist on us buying their premium services.....I need to find a NSD Anonymous Group.....LOL

I'm not sure if I am completely on board with SoJersey but I'm getting there. This kid's dad LOVED ND though and I still believe that if his dad had the choice we would have gotten the big guy to south bend.

FWIW I have been hearing a rumor he did not qualify, and will go to JC, stupidest thing I've heard, but it's out there
I watched the show on CBS with Lemming etc, if you watched the show you understand this young man. The picture became very clear. He's not Notre Dame. By the way he is going JUCO for his education-its called southern cal.

OK so he won't sign his LOI until after the NCAA violations clear-up.

So he is obviously concerned about USC's program.

Then why would you bother going there if you don't like their position they are in with the NCAA?

I see now why he isn't going to ND, he's not very bright.

Maybe he was afraid that he would miss all the wining and dining and realized nobody would talk about him anymore. Good publicity if you stretch it out like Pryor at Ohio State. Sounds like too much ego for Notre Dame.

Roger wilco. We are oscar mike. Tango uniform, Seantrel Henderson was born slightly short a brain stem!

I renounce my prior hopes for the big galute to make his home in SB. Blessed be the blind.

Amen!

But who would change thier tune if they get hit with something decent and he flips to notre dame? Some kids like flashy some like classy some don't know what they like. We have to remember that these kids are making a decision for them not us. I won't wish him luck because I'll never wish him luck on another team but let's act like the kind of people notre dame represents. Classy.

I wouldn't be surprised if USC purposely keeps this under wraps until NSD, they always like the spotlight and on a day when Florida put together a great class........USC and UCLA were stealing headlines all day long...........it is all part of their plan.

Sorry, but do find this funny. I've been a fan of ND since the 9th grade and I'll alway love ND, but to say someone has too much EGO for ND is kinda funny. ND is ego, after 15 wins in the past 3 years we are upset that we dont sign the top class in the country? After signing the top OL prospect 4 years ago and turning him into a late round draft pick, we are still upset that he didn't sign on the line? Now thats EGO!!

ND we are full of ego and I love it.

Ego is necessary for anyone to achieve greatness. However, too much personal ego which I think Henderson might have and you don't function as a team. The team needs the ego, to go along with the swagger that all great teams need.

I have to agree. Asking the very best to play for ND requires some progress on the field first. The way they roped in Teo last year was pretty amazing. Otherwise I think it's asking too much of a 17 year old with unlimited potential to take that large of a leap of faith. Based on that, the way they recruited Teo last year was pretty amazing. Hopefully we're on an upward path now and the Henderson's of the world will follow suit--it will all track naturally with success. As another native Minnesotan who is now happily living in CA, I can't fault Seantrel too heavily for wanting to spend time in a part of the country that doesn't dip below zero for months on end.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing USC keep on its downward path. I hope USC gets nailed for its actions by the NCAA and meaningful sanctions are imposed going forward (not just forfeiting past wins).

The most interesting thing BK said on signing day, in general, was that the ND brand is still very strong. That's important and it gets trashed a lot in the media...But if he's right, then a good season and an aggressive, emotional team that seems to be trending up will start getting these guys......

His dad talking about NSD and the fact that April 1st is the deadline to sign. Its not over it seems, but just to not start a shit storm, this guy isnt coming to ND..... or Florida for that matter. Neither ND or Florida even sent him the papers to sign, because they knew he was gone. Will probably end up at OSU if the sanctions go the way we expect. Seems to like the attention, reminds me alot like....... Pryor anyone?

Maybe that was true 15 years ago. But not anymore. Not saying the ND brand doesnt carry weight. But so does USC, Ohio State, Florida, Texas, etc.... This kid would have gotten as much press regardless, didnt matter if he had ND in his final group or not.

He's still all SC IMO. I have a friend who subscribes to a USC recruiting service, and he told me about an interview Sentrell's rapping papa did with the SC guys, and he basically told them it would take the death penalty for SC to get Seantrell out of there. I can't stand that dad, and it has nothing to do with his boy not choosing ND, and everything to do with using his son as a cash cow.

My favorite part was a USC mod, in response to the story, saying, "I really like Seantrell's dad. He'll fit right into the Trojan family."

Truer words have never been spoken...

Your out of your mind if you don't think ND Fans aren't the leaders in buying subscriptions to recruiting websites.........it pays to keep ND in your Top 5, it pays for the websites and pays for the publicity..........don't be naive.

A few of you may scold me for this comment, but this kid is trash. I wanted him badly, but he was so selfish in his moment. James committed the night before NSD. This kid loved being in the spotlight.

I look forward to seeing Nix blow him 5-10 yards off the ball.

I refuse to read anything else about this galute. I look forward to seeing how he performs as a team player...:jerkit:

I agree with you completely.
This guy just makes me all the more thankful we got Matt James instead of Seantrel.

Fear of NCAA Sanctions A Ruse. He wasn't Eligible.

Fear of NCAA Sanctions A Ruse. He wasn't Eligible.

Per Bill Hodge's On The Trail

3/15

Seantrel Henderson, (Saint Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham) will be signing with USC this week, according to his father Sean Henderson, ESPN's JC Shurburtt reports.

Seantrel, the No. 1-rated offensive tackle in the ESPNU 150, also received his ACT scores on Friday and is now academically eligible.

The nation's No. 8 overall player for 2010 committed to USC on signing day but did not send in his letter of intent.

the fact that he agreed to go to USC, without signing the LOI gives some insight into his thinking. I see it as he knows what USC is up against, he knows their recent history with regards to 'bending of the rules' and as long as it doesnt infringe on what he wants to get out of USC, he is ok with it. To me this speaks of his integrity. Going to USC is strictly a business decision. I could be completely wrong and off-base for suggesting this, but I dont think graduating is high on this kids list.

Another thing, this kid is supposed to be a AAU basketball star; I assume he considers his basketball career over because, the basketball team at USC is suspect too. I guess as long as it doesnt infringe on what he wants....

I sense some shenanigans going on here....funny stuff, tomfoolery, etc

But why would a kid care if Rivals makes a profit off of ND fans? Your argument is illogical. You are saying that the recruiting services profit from ND being a contender for a kid, but it is the kid using ND. How does that make any sense? Also I highly doubt that ND fans make up the majority of people buying these recruiting services. If you have proof for your claim I would be glad to see it.

Dude, this kid was ALL about the media. Did you watch his time in the spotlight? If you did, I think you would have felt differently. He was a complete media whore...

I don't think he's trying to say that a recruit cares that the recruiting services are profiting from his including Notre Dame in his final schools. Rather, the recruit will pick a school with a large or affluent fanbase in order to hold the attention of the press. The profitability of the Notre Dame name isn't the point, but a mere indication that we still hold some clout and that naming Notre Dame in your final list holds the attention of a fairly large fanbase. The argument, I would say, has some merit. Our lower ranked commits certainly weren't getting much, if any, coverage before they were offered by us.

That said, as the number one rated recruit, I think he would have gotten the attention in any case.

I noticed his father was a media whore. I think Seantrel got the media like any other would in his position, by being the #1 recruit. I think alot of what troubles him, is from his father. He just does what his father tells him to.
